System Description
The Marlette system is located close to the Barstow and Goderich systems[3][4] and consists of a class K2V primary orbited by at least three planets. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the system nadir jump point.[1][2]
System History
The Marlette system was colonised during the First Exodus from Terra.[5]
Marlette III
Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Marlette III - more commonly known simply as Marlette - was once the capital of the Marlette Association, a small post-Terran Alliance interstellar polity.[5]
Planetary History
Originally a member of the Marlette Association, Marlette is a Davion frontier world on their border with the Capellan Confederation. It is habitable, with a breathable atmosphere, water and vegetation. It served the Federated Suns as a logistical and training center, and during the thirty-first century was the capital of both the local administrative region and the local Armed Forces of the Federated Suns Combat Region.[2]
First Succession War
Marlette was invaded during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched by the Draconis Combine in May 2787.[6]
Third Succession War
The defenses of Marlette included the ostensibly impregnable Fort Bourgogne. Fort Bourgogne was successfully raided by forces from McCarron's Armored Cavalry twice, first in 3022 and again in 3044, after being rebuilt and despite having its defenses improved. To advance on the fortress, the attackers had to cross the Bern river at the narrow Stannic Bridge, a lostech artifact spanning three miles. Archibald McCarron expressly forbade his men from destroying the bridge.[citation needed]
