History
In 2764 the Twenty-first was a part of the Third Regimental Combat Team within XI Corps, one of several Corps that formed the SLDF Sixteenth Army. The Twenty-first was assigned to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region, and then transferred to an undisclosed district within the Periphery by 2765 as a part of the SLDF response to the Periphery Uprising.[2] The Twenty-first survived the Periphery Uprising and the Hegemony Campaign.[2]
As part of the Third Region of the Draconis Combine Military Region, the Twenty-first Striker was a unit that was frequently called on to end pirate raiding. As such, they became known for their battlefield diplomacy. They were able to convince multiple pirates and raiders to surrender to them rather than the DCMS. As a result the number of actual pirate raids (as opposed to state-sponsored raiding masquerading as pirates) dropped to nearly nothing in 2765.[3]
