Colonel Fritz Donner was a former Commander of the Black Warriors.[1]

History[edit]

Fritz Donner was a skilled MechWarrior and military leader. Though he would come to command the famed Black Warriors, Fritz Donner wasn't a descendant of the original unit. Instead, he joined the Warriors some time after a dishonorable discharge from the Eridani Light Horse.[2]

Circinus Federation[edit]

In 3041, Fritz was a major in the Warriors when a coup was launched within the unit to return the group's control to the members of House Cirion. The coup failed, and as Donner had remained loyal to Federation President H. R. "Little Bob" McIntyre, he was installed as its commander and promoted accordingly. Colonel Donner led the Black Warriors between 3058 and 3064 per "Little Bob's" wishes.

An expert tactician, he was key in turning the Warriors' fortunes with many successful raids during more than two decades with them. As he wasn't an original Warrior, he faced numerous challenges to his authority, especially as the unit’s commander. In spite of this, he managed to remain in command until his benefactor’s death.[1][3][4]

When "Little Bob" died of a Heart attack, his son Calvin McIntyre would take the Presidency of the Circinus Federation along with more Word of Blake support. Because of this, Colonel Donner chose to flee along with most of the other Black Warriors after halting an invasion of the Federation against the Marian Hegemony. Unfortunately for him, the Manei Domini tracked down and captured Fritz Donner several months later.

Pawn of the Blakists[edit]

In late 3067, Donner was captured and taken to Judgment Point, formerly known as Castle Masters, on the Blakist planet Gibson. This was also the headquarters of Precentor Apollyon, an elite Manei Domini and commander of all Domini Shadow Divisions for The Master. Donner was "interrogated" by the Blakists for almost four years without breaking, until Apollyon personally took over his torture sessions.[5]

As a result, Apollyon brainwashed Donner into doing the The Master’s bidding. To give due credit, the Blakist "accidentally" released part of a message claiming Donner was being sought for having escaped and killing two Blake Agents in the attempt.[6]

Fritz was amongst other prisoners freed from Blakist custody in a prison camp on New Home, towards the end of 3071.[7]

On 22 January 3073, Donner was scheduled to testify at a summit on Arc-Royal called by Victor Steiner-Davion on fighting against the Blakists; as Donner approached several dignitaries, a suicide bomb grafted to Donner's skeleton detonated, killing Donner and many of the delegates, including the Khan of the Ghost Bears. As a direct result, the effort to fight the Blakists by the various nations of the Inner Sphere was temporarily derailed. Even so, the bombing infuriated Clan Ghost Bear, who saw such a dishonorable tactic as a valid reason to launch a savage campaign against the Blakists.[citation needed]
