The Gouderak system was home to at least one habitable world or construct and as at 3145 was located in the Duchy of Andurien.[1][2]

System Description

The Gouderak system is located near the Piriapolis and Umka systems.[3][4]

System History

The Gouderak system was colonised at some point in the late Twenty-third or early Twenty-fourth century and became a part of the Magistracy of Canopus prior to the Reunification War.[5][6][3][7][8]

Political Affiliation

Planetary History

Gouderak has the distinction of being the first planet in the Magistracy of Canopus to be targetted for invasion and occupation during the Star League conquest of the Magistracy following the rejection of the Pollux Proclamation by the Periphery nations.[10]

On the 10th of June 2577 Star League Defense Force and Free Worlds League Military WarShips jumped into the system and conducted simultaneous assaults on both the zenith and nadir jump points, quickly overwhelming the light pickets stationed there. The zenith cargo transfer station surrendered quickly, although the nadir station put up enough resistance to force a boarding action in response.[10]

Within a week, the SLDF Fifty-fifth Brigade were on the surface of Gouderak securing objectives under the command of General Camilla Sjölander. The Fifty-fifth secured both the industrial complexes on Halton and the planetary capital after the single company from the First Canopian Light Horse stationed on Gouderak departed following some token skirmishes, but occupying Gouda Prime proved problematic. While Gouda Prime had sufficient water purification facilities to support the native population, there was no way it could generate enough water for an entire Division of SLDF troops, resulting in occupying troops having to draw supplies from their DropShips. This highlighted a problem with supporting large troop movements from native resources that the SLDF task force hadn't considered in advance.[10]

Despite the potential water problems, numerous units were stationed on or moved through Gouderak in 2277 in addition to the Fifty-fifth Brigade. At one time or another, present on Gouderak were the SLDF Sixty-first Royal Brigade, a part of the Twenty-first Royal Division; the Fifth Marik Militia and the Second Oriente Hussars.[49]

The Magistracy of Canopus had 13 worlds annexed by the Free Worlds League, either during the Reunification War[11] or by Star League decree in 2602,[50] and Gouderak was one of these worlds.
