Free Worlds League refugees fleeing conflicts along the Lyran and Capellan borders were desperate enough to make a new home for themselves on this world, with a Pakistani Terran named Aban Kayani providing the financial support to do so. While its environment was harsh, Karachi also possessed enough accessible mineral wealth to become a regional industrial center situated far away from the Age of War violence endemic to the Inner Sphere.[4]
