Description & History[edit]

The Kiso was created as a "command" construction vehicle for large planetary construction projects in the Draconis Combine. Built in the middle of the golden years of the Star League, the vehicle is intended to allow an on-site supervisor to run his machine, while being able to access planetary networks to gain permits, communicate to workers, and multitask other assorted projects while supervising 'Mech-related manual tasks.[2]

The four-legged IndustrialMech fell on hard times when the Succession Wars broke out, because all three main factories it was produced at were destroyed. By the 3050s, Osaka Heavy Metrics acquired the means to produce the revolutionary communication equipment and command console in it.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The Kiso is equipped with a tungsten-cored heavy-duty pile driver, which is primarily used to prepare building foundations. A rock cutter is mounted on the left torso. The 'Mech has a pair of telescope style lift hoists, one per side torso, and also two cargo modular containers which can hold up to twenty tons of equipment.[2]

Cargo[edit]

20 tons cargo with two cargo containers.[2]

Variants[edit]

  • K-3N-KR5
Variant of the Kiso designed for excavating tasks. The rock-cutter is replaced with a backhoe and its heavy pile driver with a dual cutting saw. The machine is very rare, only ten remain in service after the fall of the Star League. The company plant on Togura is able produce them, but only by special order; it was introduced 2703.[2][5] BV (2.0) = 959[5][6]; 1,091[7]

Design Quirks[edit]

The K-3N-KRHQ Kiso variant is subject to the following Design Quirks:[8]
