Planetary Info

Siendou is a rocky, resource-rich world and an established constitutional theocracy. Adherants to the global faith of Siendou are referred to as Siva Lwa; amongst the tenets of the religion is a prohibition on the faithful serving in a national military.[28]

Planetary History

Dark Age

Siendou was one of a number of worlds in a region to be abandoned by the Free Worlds League as the League collapsed; as a consequence, the newly-independent world became a frequent target for both pirates and neighboring worlds looking to expand their territory and influence. Attackers frequently presumed that due to the prohibition on serving in a national military imposed on all Siva Lwa, Siendou would be undefended and easy pickings. What those unfamiliar with Siendou and the Siva Lwa failed to realize is that there was no injunction on Siva Lwa practicing warfare as a trade. As such, Siendou was home to a locally-raised mercenary unit indigenous to the world named Ogoun's Machete; this unit proved their effectiveness to more than one hostile attacker.[28]

In 3140 the pirate band known as the Hellion Harpies raided Siendou, expecting to find easily-obtained plunder. The Hellion Harpies struck from the Deep Periphery and targeted four of the most important mining operations on the planet, dropping a demi-company of assorted medium and heavy BattleMechs on each facility. Actions conducted by contingents from the Ogoun's Machete such as the battle at the Chaine de la Selle diamond mines, where a lance of Black Hawk 3s led by Sister Ayo Olubumni defeated five Hellion Harpies 'Mechs and captured a sixth through a combination of good tactics and familiarity with the local terrain.[28]
