System History
The Zwenkau system was settled at some point before the mid-twenty-fourth century[3] and either joined or was annexed by the Lyran Commonwealth during the Age of War.[4]
Planetary History
Second Succession War
In August 2830 Captain-General Charles Marik followed up on two months of increasing tension on the border between the Free Worlds League and Lyran Commonwealth by deciding to order a pre-emptive strike against the Commonwealth. That strike was aimed at the worlds of Zwenkau and Senftenberg and was initially successful, netting the four-regiment BattleMech and LAM force a quantity of Zeus and Cyclops-class assault 'Mechs as well as control of the armament factories in the Cavez Valley region in the short term. The Lyran retaliation was swift, and within weeks battles were being waged along the entire length of the border between the two nations; within a year of the raid the entire Inner Sphere was fighting the Second Succession War in earnest.[5]
