Description[edit]
The heavy, by IndustrialMech standards, Inquisitor SecurityMech was designed by Irian Technologies, Unlimited in 3062[3] exclusively for the defense of all IrTech facilities throughout the Free Worlds League. Since its introduction, it has rapidly proliferated throughout the Inner Sphere due to IrTech's decision to sell it on the open market at the end of the Jihad.
During the Jihad, large numbers of Inquisitors were used by the Word of Blake's police, industrial security forces, militia units, and TerraSec. Though generally less effective than a BattleMech, they were deployed in large numbers that caused problems during Operation SCOUR. Post-Jihad, highly competitive pricing spread the 'Mech widely throughout the Republic of the Sphere.[2]
As of December 3070, and still by August 3084,[5] the Inquisitor is considered one of the most well-known SecurityMech designs, named alongside the likes of the Copper, Guard, and Pacifier.[1]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The initial Inquisitor is widely thought to be closer to any BattleMech than any other SecurityMech. An ER medium laser and SRM-4 are capable of inflicting respectable damage on armored targets while the twin machine guns are effective against infantry, and all these weapons are controlled by an advanced fire control. Two tons of communications equipment allow the pilot to coordinate effectively with other security forces and an ejection seat allows the pilot to escape should the seven tons of heavy industrial armor be breached. The design's lack of CASE protection for its ammunition was a source of criticism.
Variants[edit]
- ITW-85
- The only variant authorized by Irian, this Inquisitor was introduced in 3122[6] and replaces the communications equipment with a Beagle active probe and CASE II system from the Inquisitor II.[2] BV (2.0) = 664[7]
Notable Pilots[edit]
Related Designs[edit]
- Inquisitor II
- Visually identical to the Inquisitor, this SecurityMech is a 50 ton version with different equipment.[2]
