Description[edit]
A Solaris VII BattleMech, the Morpheus is a heavily-armored combatant. The high ground speed allow the Morpheus to close quickly, while the heavy armor protects the 'Mech and pilot from enemy fire. The Morpheus is basically a larger version of the Tsunami medium arena fighter, and the engineers of Omnitech Industries learned many lessons from the Tsunami's disappointing appearance.[3] Strangely, one thing they didn't bring over to the Morpheus was triple strength myomer.
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
Considering its size and armor protection, the Morpheus is somewhat underarmed for its role. The Morpheus's main weapons are its Claw and Spikes which are backed up by three Diverse Optics ER medium lasers and a single Poland Main Model C Magshot. The heavy armor allows the Morpheus to close with an opponent and inflict damage via the melee weapons.
Variants[edit]
- MR-P1
- The original Morpheus carried a medium laser, pair of Medium Pulse Lasers, and an anti-missile system. It also carried a Beagle active probe and Guardian ECM suite.[4] BV (2.0) = 1,340[5]
- MRP-3
- Fielded by Steven Hendry (in his personal 'Mech, L'Morte II) in his duel against Kelley Metz in 3067, this variant seems to be functionally identical to the MR-3S, featuring the same weapons and equipment.[6]
- MRP-3T
- This variant removes the Claw and Spikes, replaces the heavy ferro-fibrous with reactive armor, swaps the Magshot for a laser AMS and adds an ER medium laser to each arm as well as adding three additional double heat sinks. BV (2.0) = 1,925[7]
- MRP-3W
- This third variant replaces the jump jets with underwater maneuvering units and replaces the head-mounted laser with a MechWarrior aquatic survival system (MASS). BV (2.0) = 1,306[8]
Design Quirks[edit]
The Morpheus has the following Design Quirks:[9]
