Hey Mbear, noticed somebody edited your [[User:Mbear/Davion Assault Guards|Davion Assault Guards]] page, I am going to assume that the user thought it was the "main article" as it where. Since you have not touched the article since 2013 do you think we could possibly retire it to avoid confusion? Cheers --[[User:Dmon|Dmon]] ([[User talk:Dmon|talk]]) 13:01, 4 February 2016 (PST)

Hi Mbear, other day scrambled to put up a Mortiorum volation notice on the [[Arbiter]] article. I do not normally do that sort of thing so i wasn't sure what to do. How do you temporary, block text like it is now? Its not blanking, but i'm not sure how to do it or how to put correct template on there note that someone violated the Mort. -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 16:13, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

:To hide the information from view, the editor put standard HTML comment tags around the content they wanted to blank out. These tags tell the web browser to ignore anything between them.

:To start an HTML comment, hit the edit page and then place <!-- before the stuff you want to disappear. To close the HTML comment (stop hiding stuff) use the --> tag. Here's a sample (hit the section edit link to see how it works):

Hello Wrangler! Thanks for catching the moratorium violation on the Arbiter article. I appreciate it.

Mbear - yeah, i get the issue. The units in question fought the Kell Hounds, resulting in the death of Daniel Allard. Unfortunately, they weren't mentioned by name. Mbear - Question : I appreciate the amount of work you've put in going through all those commands. But isn't this a bit excessive? Some of the articles now have more than five tags. [[User:ClanWolverine101|ClanWolverine101]] 13:42, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

:Yes, it is excessive. Many of these commands just sat there with a stub tag for ages. By adding the relevant update needed tags, I hope that editors can see each relevant reference book. This will give them a head start on updating the article.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 15:32, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Mbear. Why did you change the name of the Republican regiments? Most of the source books have them listed as (no.) Republicans, not Tikonov Republican Guards. Hello. The Armored Infantry and Mounted Fusiliers are the 1st and 2nd St. Ives Sentinels. You listed them as dead and created new pages for the 1st and 2nd. What do you want me to do about them? [[User:Henryjones000|Henryjones000]] ([[User talk:Henryjones000|talk]]) 12:44, 13 April 2017 (EDT)

:# the FCCW book called them the Tikonov Republican Guards.

:# the Rim Worlds Republic's units were also called Republicans.

:If you want to change them back, feel free. I've no objection.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 11:26, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

::Hi Mbear. Sorry sound like jerk about it. The Brigade is called Tikonov Republican Guards, and that correct. The individual Regiments are just called, 1st Republican, 2nd Republican, & 3rd Republican. Without the guard name in them. Hi Mbear, I have done a huge rework of the existing articles of the mercs. I splitted larger commands in single regiments. Please read my anwser to Frappy's question on his profil. Let me know what are you thinking about it. I'm not sure which information is needed/prefered by the other commands and which is the best way to show the difference by the force structur of each faction. For example: the CCAF attached a independ command company to each regiment and the dcms have a other structure... please help me... [[User:Neuling|Neuling]] 16:45, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Mbear, i've been working on bring up the quality of the planet articles. I've been finding some articles are having its text displaced by something in the article. Example: [[Ozawa‎]]. I some how "fixed" one of them, something i did in new [[York (Clan planet)]] article i added. Is there anything in your abilities, see what causing the text to be displaced. I'd ask Rev, but he doesn't seem to be around lately and i'm not sure who to goto. -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 18:47, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

:So the display of Ozawa is incorrect and York is correct?--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 18:54, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

::Yes, you'll note when you goto the Ozawa page, there huge gap on top of the page. I'm trying to get rid of those gaps. I have no coding abilities, so i'm not sure what causing it displace. I know only one thing thou, the Infobox has something to do with it. When its removed, it stops happening. I'm not sure if its the size or where it is. Doneve, been adding pictures and info to some of the pages, and its getting thrown off. I'm not certain what really causing it. -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 19:24, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

:::Using Ozawa as an example, I can see two possible causes for the problem you're seeing.

:::# The infobox isn't the first thing on the page and it should be.

:::# The images that are in the article are messing up the layout.

:::I've tried moving the infobox to the top of the page so it's the first thing the web browser sees and it helped a little. What do you think?--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 19:56, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

:Slight improvement, but infobox is still displacing the text. Man, looks like we need a coder remedy this. Why does this happen? Half of the articles we have who do have the info boxes don't have this displacement. *sigh* -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 22:53, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

==Electronic Book category question==

==Mechwarrior 1==
Hi MBear, i have question. I just created the Electronic Book category for Sarna. Is there away to create a short-cut category name for it? I was thinking having E-Book alias/re-direct for the category. However, my limited knowledge of wiki-code keeps me wanting to mess up the place trying test to see if redirect of category was possible. -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 19:44, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello. As of now, the site has a number of download links for all Mechwarrior games on various platforms and so on. I'd like to ask you guys to consider giving a link to the Sharp X68000 and PC-9801 versions of Mechwarrior 1. They're abandonware and it's quite hard to track the ROMs down nowadays. It could very well become impossible in the not so distant future which would be a shame as they've made a bigger mark on Battletech than any version of MW2, MW3 or MC could ever dream of. Plus, the PC-98 version of the game is practically the only one playable by today's standards which is quite an issue when it comes to people trying out MW1.
:Yes. A link to a category can be treated like any other link by placing a single colon after the two opening braces. For your ebook category redirect, you would do this:
+
As of now, there's functional links to download floppy images for the games:

==WIP tag==

Morning, Mbear. I just stumbled across your question regarding pages under construction ("Is there a way to list all pages with the underconstruction tag on them?" - on your profile page). I just happened to do [[:Category:WIP|exactly that]] a few days back. This can also be found on the [[BattleTechWiki:ToDo|To Do List]] (on the Sidebar).--[[User:Revanche|Revanche]] ([[User_talk:Revanche|talk]]|[[Special:Contributions/Revanche|contribs]]) 09:51, 25 May 2018 (EDT)

I read lately TacOps and find out there are many types of ammunition not descript on the section, what do you think is it help to create an overview for example all autocannon ammunition types or the lrm missile types. Tnx [[User:Neuling|Neuling]] 19:19, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

:The idea is to track what year technologies move from Experimental Rules to Advanced Rules to Tournament Legal rules. Obviously I need to re-write that for clarity. --[[User:Mbear|Mbear]]([[User_talk:Mbear|talk]]) 08:39, 21 February 2019 (EST)

== Star League commands order ==

its me again, I can't decide which way is the best to reflect the induvial faction difference for the forces, for example all CCAF mechforces at regiment level have 1 Command Company and the DCMS doesn't employ independent command units? Tnx [[User:Neuling|Neuling]] 19:23, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
+
Hi Mbear,
:I would bring this up on the [[BattleTechWiki:Project Military Commands]] discussion page.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 19:49, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

==Organization Structure==
+
I've seen that the Star League commands order is different from the rest. Units assigned in sub-level commands do appear also in the root (something that does not happen in other Military Commands Categories. Am I right if I consider this Category incorrectly done?
Hy Mbear, I jump in, then I add the gallery's of Neulings Organzation Structures, but i must say, i talk with Neuling every day in the ICQ, you know we are german natives, and nice to see it comes a notice for Neulings edits, he makes a really good work about the newly added Organization structure, he added it and i fix little thinks (gallery, tags, etc), a hand to hand cooperation, you are the first admin to bring a statement to his last work, ähm sorry for my rough englisch ;), but i think you know what i say..., and again sorry for my grammar ...past and tense failurs in the conversation grml. Greetings --[[User:Doneve|Doneve]] 04:31, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

:I remember both you and Neuling aren't native speakers of English. (And I respect your efforts to learn such a messed-up language!) And I agree, Neuling has made a lot of very nice improvements to the Wiki. If I implied otherwise in my message to him, I'll apologize for that. Neuling's work strikes me as being a "diamond in the rough" as we say over here: A few cuts and trips to the polishing stone and it's great. That's all I meant about the Organization tree images.

:If you're working in the gallery I mentioned on the [[Task Force Serpent]] page, please realize that my comment wasn't "This sucks, get rid of it" it was "This is a great start, but could be so much better with just a little more effort." It was like seeing someone run a marathon and then deciding to drop out at mile marker 25 instead of finishing the race.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 14:08, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

==Andurien Succession==
+
I also think there are categories missing that should help reorganize this a bit better? The level of sub commands can be huge, and I do not even know which is the best way to order them.
Hey Mbear, what is your opinion about my extension of the Andurien Crises. My next project will the Ronin Wars and after that the Anton Marik Revolt. Both Project in two days... :) [[User:Neuling|Neuling]] 16:00, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

:I think you should change your formatting

:*so it's written in sentences rather than this list format

:*so it doesn't use the "+" sign in the lists, but does use a comma as the separator

:*so it uses the correct referencing system (<nowiki><ref>''Historical: Brush Wars'', p. 54</ref></nowiki>)

So instead of this:
+
I tried to make this a general query, but have no idea on how to do it.--[[User:Pserratv|Pserratv]] ([[User talk:Pserratv|talk]]) 10:31, 18 July 2019 (EDT)
;Planet:Repulse

;MAF Forces:Taskforce Duo (2nd Canopian Light Horse + 2nd Canopian Cuirassiers + 2nd Canopian Fusiliers)

;CCAF Forces:Kincade’s Rangers

;Outcome:The numbers count for the invaders but the Rangers had some training cycles with the Death Commandos. The used every possible tactic to soften the Canopian forces up. The Rangers went in the underground.

;Source:Brush War p. 54

It would read more like this:
+
:I wouldn't say "incorrectly done" exactly, but I see your point. I '''think''' what happened was the original SLDF commands category was created before FM:SLDF and other Star League era sourcebooks were published. Going by the limited information available in ''[[The Star League]]'', this original category was probably enough.

On [[Repulse]] the Taskforce Duo (consisting of the [[2nd Canopian Light Horse]], [[2nd Canopian Cuirassiers]], and [[2nd Canopian Fusiliers]]) faced the [[CCAF]]'s [[Kincaid's Rangers]]. Though outnumbering the Rangers three to one, the Rangers had trained alongside the [[Death Commando]]s and used every possible tactic to soften up the invading Canopian forces. They then went underground to continue their resistance.
+
:Now that we have more info, you're probably right about a reorganization. By "sub commands" I assume you're talking about something like a category for units that are part of [[1st Army (Star League)]], then a category for [[I Corps (Star League)]]'s constituent commands, etc. I see no problem with that. (In fact I think we started a category for Army and Corps level organizations: ([[:Category:Star League Defense Force Commands - Army]] and [[:Category:Star League Defense Force Corps]]) but frankly my job picked up and I haven't had a lot of time to keep working on Sarna.)

:There's no point in reinventing something that already exists (referencing system), and the lists you're using here are just one step away from a sentence based layout anyway.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 16:13, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
+
:I also just created a new category as an example: [[:Category:Star League Defense Force Auxiliary Corps]] which lists the various Auxiliary Corps used in the Reunification War.

==MWDA Dossier Question(s)==
+
:However, I wouldn't recommend removing any existing specialist categories, like [[:Category:Star League Defense Force Commands - Infantry Division]].
Hi Mbear. Do you recall if there was a Swordsworn data card? I was looking at the dossier you uploaded, notice there wasn't a faction dossier for them, and other forces but the Stormhammers. I could sworn when they came out they did have one...You wouldn't happen know where it could be found? -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 11:24, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

:I didn't play MWDA, so I don't have the information. Everything I have I pulled from http://www.warrenborn.com/ so if it wasn't there I don't have it. I don't remember having a Swordsworn data card/dossier though. (If you find one and need it split up though, let me know.)--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]]

Howdy again. Question: Has anyone created PDF of the Data cards that WizKids produced? The ones they replaced dossiers with. I remember also their website included info from it. Alot of it ...not really canon. Neverless, since Herb been talking about fast forwarding through the slow part of the Dark Age, it maybe handy for players to have access to those things. -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 11:24, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

+
:::my problem with including units in say 1st Army is that if a casual user does not know it is part of 1st Army we have just made finding it exponentially harder not easier. 1st Sword of Light will always be easy to find because it shares the name of the next command level up.--[[User:Dmon|Dmon]] ([[User talk:Dmon|talk]]) 11:54, 19 July 2019 (EDT)
+
::::OK. That's a valid concern. How about we add the subcommand categories as described, but keep the giant list that Pserratv is complaining about? (Sorry Pserratv.) That way it's still broken down in a more manageable size, but the list is still there for casual users.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]]([[User_talk:Mbear|talk]]) 11:56, 22 July 2019 (EDT)
+

==Audurien Succession Question==
+
== Proposed Organization of the Star League Forces (final) ==

::Hi Mbear. To answer your question regarding my reparts about how the article ([[Audurien Succession]]) was written. I disagree with the format which was written in style of "giving world to world conflict with no content with only generic results". To me thats not Sarna's style, in my opinion. I realize that i may be out line, to me it looks little sloopy. i know i haven't wrote very good gems and i'm grammer challenged. However, I feel the war should be written with more content. As Scaletail has commented, its multi-"war" event. I Believe it needs to be cleaned up in way where it tells the story of the Succession & the War Audriens fought during this time period. Its like its own era. Anyways, the new format comment comes from Neufeld edit. I disagree in way he wrote the conflict, if you would look at what i wrote for the history of the [[1st Defenders of Andurien|1st Defenders of Andurien's]] history section. I feel the article should be written like that, not blow to blow. I did write [[Operation: Ice Storm]], [[Operation: Sovereign Justice]], and [[Operation: Thunderstrike]] bit information in blow by blow format. That was only because there wasn't alot source material on it to expand what was going on, i didn't want overwhelm someone with too much info about it. -- [[User:Wrangler|Wrangler]] 18:24, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

:::I actually like what you did for [[Operation: Ice Storm]], [[Operation: Sovereign Justice]], and [[Operation: Thunderstrike]]. That format is the one I'd like to see as well. I don't think the setup used on the [[Andurien Secession]] page is good one at all. This list, though informative, lacks the depth we want here on Sarna. In addition, the "Source" line duplicates the reference tag system that's already in place. I don't want to just delete the work that's there however without talking to other people.--[[User:Mbear|Mbear]] 15:56, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Do you know how the system maps are generated? All those images don't have a category and this makes the [https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Special:UncategorizedFiles Uncategorized files] not very useful as from the first 1000 thousand maybe 95% images as these ones. And I do not want to put them in a category as this might affect the "program" that generates them. Do you know who can help? Maybe when the image is generated it can be put in a category like "System Images". I'm asking more people, but do you have any idea?--[[User:Pserratv|Pserratv]] ([[User talk:Pserratv|talk]]) 04:24, 8 March 2021 (EST)
Hi Mbear, i'm not sure who around, but someone uploaded a non-canon imagine. [http://cf.sarna.net/docs/mwda_dossiers/2750th.png Terran Hegemony Map] appears to be a non-canon image but there no label stating it is. DO you know what were suppose to do about this? :::OK. What you have to do is put in a link to the image like this: <nowiki>[[Image:2750th.png|Terran Hegemony Map]]</nowiki>. This will include the image on the page. From there, you can click the image and you'll be taken to the image's wiki page. Then you can add the tag you need.

== Charts for Battletech ==
Hi, Mbear,
+
Hello mbear, can you please take a look at the following site: https://www.sarna.net/wiki/User:Neuling/charts and tell me your opinion about it. My goal is to greate a chart to see the expierence difference of an Brigade during a specific time. The next chart shows the strucure of the FWL navy in 2765. I had more chart about the different structures within an military organisation like the Republic of the Inner Sphere and even the loses of the SLDF from 264 to 2784. With best regards [[neuling]].
I've never contributed to BattleTech Wiki before but I was wondering about perhaps doing so. I've actually had about a dozen BattleTech articles published over the years in magazines like BattleTechnology and MechForce Quarterly. I am also the original creator for the non-jump capable WarShips called Monitors.
+
:I think my request wil not get a response. My goal was not to include the charts in the wiki. But you have your reasons, which are unknown to me, for not communicating about that topic. I hope you can help me that time. Can we include anchor in that wiki or is that something for Nic to discuss. [[neuling]]

What I am interested in doing is submitting a wiki for a mercenary unit that I created and was featured in several of the articles published in Battletechnology and MechForce Quarterly. The unit is called TekTeam Technical Services and is essentially a unit of mercenary technicians that sell their services to the highest bidder, travels in a modified Mule class DropShip set up as a mobile repair base and is supported by a small security force.

== Units infobox template ==

Would it be have to be published in the non-canon units section, or because it was published in the 'official' magazines for BattleTech at that time, would you consider the unit at least quasi-'canon'?

Hiya, saw that you purged my redlinks - specifically, the [[BattleTech rulebooks]]. That's a summary article I intend to write yet, to show how the BT rules evolved over time. In this sense, it's going to be a companion article to the Boxed set article that shows how the basic boxed set product evolved over time. I've taken the liberty to revert your cleanup and restore my messy redlinks, as a reminder to myself to get that article up and running. If nothing happens in a few months' time, feel free to kick me in the shins about it (or delete the links again, in which case I won't object anymore). :) [[User:Frabby|Frabby]] ([[User talk:Frabby|talk]]) 14:37, 16 September 2021 (EDT)

LX Corps[edit]

Hi, i removed the image it is wrong, i uploade the correct.--Doneve (talk) 11:42, 26 January 2016 (PST)

Davion Assault Guards[edit]

Hey Mbear, noticed somebody edited your Davion Assault Guards page, I am going to assume that the user thought it was the "main article" as it where. Since you have not touched the article since 2013 do you think we could possibly retire it to avoid confusion? Cheers --Dmon (talk) 13:01, 4 February 2016 (PST)

Jade Falcon units[edit]

Mbear - yeah, i get the issue. The units in question fought the Kell Hounds, resulting in the death of Daniel Allard. Unfortunately, they weren't mentioned by name. Nevertheless, other sources clear state their presence. ClanWolverine101 (talk) 17:40, 2 June 2016 (PDT)

Victroy Ranger units[edit]

Hi, i see you removed the update needed tags, i dont want to add tags for Field Manual: 3145 the pages need to update by this source, can you do this when you found time, cheers.--Doneve (talk) 07:11, 7 June 2016 (PDT)

SLDF Units[edit]

Hi, started to add some updates to the SLDF units, but I see it is one of your pet projects. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but if you need any help just let me know. Dark Jaguar (talk) 08:17, 13 June 2016 (PDT)

St. Ives Sentinels[edit]

Hello. The Armored Infantry and Mounted Fusiliers are the 1st and 2nd St. Ives Sentinels. You listed them as dead and created new pages for the 1st and 2nd. What do you want me to do about them? Henryjones000 (talk) 12:44, 13 April 2017 (EDT)

Spammers[edit]

I saw your efforts to delete all the spambots earlier, just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work as an admin. It's really appreciated, you deserve this award. Vandal Cop Award, 3rd ribbon Dark Jaguar (talk) 17:00, 9 May 2017 (EDT)

In the same vein, thank you for standing in the trenches and fighting off the soulless spambots with me and BrokenMnemonic. Have another Vandal Cop award on me. (4th ribbon, right?) Frabby (talk) 03:21, 13 July 2017 (EDT)

Don't admin tired (or angry)[edit]

I was going thru the motions of dealing with the spambot when I saw you had already done some deletions. I blocked, but wondered if you had merged it with anonymous; when I saw you hadn't I went to do so, but because I was thinking of you, I copied your name into the merge command. Thank Nic you were in the protected group! As the protected group warning popped up, I was still in disblief: "No! Did I just delete Mbear?!" --Revanche (talk|contribs) 10:04, 2 October 2017 (EDT)

sigh I knew it. Everyone IS out to get me. ;)--Mbear(talk) 06:56, 3 October 2017 (EDT)
Nic is in your corner (for the moment), so you've got that going for you. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 14:55, 3 October 2017 (EDT)

BattleCorp's Battletech style guide[edit]

Not sure if you wanted to update your link on your userpage to [this one] as your old link doesn't go anywhere anymore.--Deadfire (talk) 16:46, 4 January 2018 (EST)

Mechwarrior 1[edit]

As of now, there's functional links to download floppy images for the games:
X68000 floppies - http://78.213.180.135:5080/mame/index.php?name=btech/x68k_flop (as btech.zip in the upper right corner)
PC-9801 floppies - https://mega.nz/#F!F59WkSqQ!quGKSFIswBgv0rxAAaF8Pg!ctEDjaKL (Under は, find 【PC98】バトルテック.rar) Adridos (talk) 20:25, 14 February 2018 (EST)

The right person to ask about this would be our site bureaucrat User:Nicjansma. Nobody else can add stuff to the download section (which has been in need of a workover for a decade now anyways). :) I've dropped a note in Nic's talk page to perhaps look into this. Frabby (talk) 05:38, 15 February 2018 (EST)
Wow, awesome find. Added to: http://www.sarna.net/files/programs/games/battletech_ubawareta_seihai/ Nicjansma (talk) 20:33, 26 March 2018 (EDT)

WIP tag[edit]

Morning, Mbear. I just stumbled across your question regarding pages under construction ("Is there a way to list all pages with the underconstruction tag on them?" - on your profile page). I just happened to do exactly that a few days back. This can also be found on the To Do List (on the Sidebar).--Revanche (talk|contribs) 09:51, 25 May 2018 (EDT)

Advanced Technology Year[edit]

It may seem like a stupid question but what is an "Advanced Technology Year"? Is it different in universe from year available?--Dmon (talk) 08:37, 21 February 2019 (EST)

The idea is to track what year technologies move from Experimental Rules to Advanced Rules to Tournament Legal rules. Obviously I need to re-write that for clarity. --Mbear(talk) 08:39, 21 February 2019 (EST)
Ah ok... To me the prototype/year introduced seemed to essentially have it covered but I had not thught about all the rules stuff as I tend to think in universe terms.--Dmon (talk) 12:13, 21 February 2019 (EST)

Star League commands order[edit]

Hi Mbear,

I've seen that the Star League commands order is different from the rest. Units assigned in sub-level commands do appear also in the root (something that does not happen in other Military Commands Categories. Am I right if I consider this Category incorrectly done?

I also think there are categories missing that should help reorganize this a bit better? The level of sub commands can be huge, and I do not even know which is the best way to order them.

I tried to make this a general query, but have no idea on how to do it.--Pserratv (talk) 10:31, 18 July 2019 (EDT)

I wouldn't say "incorrectly done" exactly, but I see your point. I think what happened was the original SLDF commands category was created before FM:SLDF and other Star League era sourcebooks were published. Going by the limited information available in The Star League, this original category was probably enough.
Now that we have more info, you're probably right about a reorganization. By "sub commands" I assume you're talking about something like a category for units that are part of 1st Army (Star League), then a category for I Corps (Star League)'s constituent commands, etc. I see no problem with that. (In fact I think we started a category for Army and Corps level organizations: (Category:Star League Defense Force Commands - Army and Category:Star League Defense Force Corps) but frankly my job picked up and I haven't had a lot of time to keep working on Sarna.)
I also just created a new category as an example: Category:Star League Defense Force Auxiliary Corps which lists the various Auxiliary Corps used in the Reunification War.
However, I wouldn't recommend removing any existing specialist categories, like Category:Star League Defense Force Commands - Infantry Division.
Does that help at all or have I just confused the issue even more?--Mbear(talk) 09:06, 19 July 2019 (EDT)
Thanks for the tip. That was my idea, and delete existing categories was not in my mind :).--Pserratv (talk) 11:44, 19 July 2019 (EDT)
my problem with including units in say 1st Army is that if a casual user does not know it is part of 1st Army we have just made finding it exponentially harder not easier. 1st Sword of Light will always be easy to find because it shares the name of the next command level up.--Dmon (talk) 11:54, 19 July 2019 (EDT)
OK. That's a valid concern. How about we add the subcommand categories as described, but keep the giant list that Pserratv is complaining about? (Sorry Pserratv.) That way it's still broken down in a more manageable size, but the list is still there for casual users.--Mbear(talk) 11:56, 22 July 2019 (EDT)
If we do this, and I accept any ruling and I understand also why you are worried, we need to do first something on the commands now in General as... well, otherwise they'll be flooded and never be seen again. I accept suggestions. As per returning also some of them to both general and subcategories, which is the ruling? We are taling on more than 800 commands, not an easy decision to take on what should be at Category General level and what not.--Pserratv (talk) 15:31, 22 July 2019 (EDT)

Proposed Organization of the Star League Forces (final)[edit]

I've created and explained a proposal here: Category talk:Star League Defense Force Commands, could you review and share your insights?--Pserratv (talk) 08:55, 7 August 2019 (EDT)

Image Categories[edit]

Hi Mbear,

Do you know how the system maps are generated? All those images don't have a category and this makes the Uncategorized files not very useful as from the first 1000 thousand maybe 95% images as these ones. And I do not want to put them in a category as this might affect the "program" that generates them. Do you know who can help? Maybe when the image is generated it can be put in a category like "System Images". I'm asking more people, but do you have any idea?--Pserratv (talk) 04:24, 8 March 2021 (EST)

Thank you.[edit]

Hey mbear,

Thank you for having a look at the Template:InfoBoxMilitaryCommand, I had told Pserratv I was going to ask you to look at it but I had real life stuff to do. When I came back you had done it on your own. Massively appreciated. Have an award Problem Solver Award, 7th ribbon. --Dmon (talk) 11:08, 28 June 2021 (EDT)

Charts for Battletech[edit]

Hello mbear, can you please take a look at the following site: https://www.sarna.net/wiki/User:Neuling/charts and tell me your opinion about it. My goal is to greate a chart to see the expierence difference of an Brigade during a specific time. The next chart shows the strucure of the FWL navy in 2765. I had more chart about the different structures within an military organisation like the Republic of the Inner Sphere and even the loses of the SLDF from 264 to 2784. With best regards neuling.

I think my request wil not get a response. My goal was not to include the charts in the wiki. But you have your reasons, which are unknown to me, for not communicating about that topic. I hope you can help me that time. Can we include anchor in that wiki or is that something for Nic to discuss. neuling

Units infobox template[edit]

I see that you are updating some of them. Are you folowing some process to select which to upgraqe? I see a bit of ecery thing so I asked.--Pserratv (talk) 15:18, 13 July 2021 (EDT)

Not really. I'm going by the "What Links Here" link from the template. Starting at the end of the list and moving forward so I can see the list shrinking.--Mbear(talk) 07:59, 14 July 2021 (EDT)
Although now that I've done some, I've decided to focus on brigade/organization levels. For example, the Protectorate Militia, and then the Dieron Regulars.--Mbear(talk)
I've done several of them already (see my page). We should try to coordinate :).--Pserratv (talk) 03:44, 24 August 2021 (EDT)

Nigel Sortek[edit]

Hey Mbear, just so you know, I removed your addition of Nigel Sortek to the House Sortek page. The reason why is because he is already in the family tree, and I am slowly trying to switch over the "Known family members" to "Other known family members" as I figure out how various people are related. Thank you very much for crafting/researching/conjuring this bit of much-wanted media-wiki code. This is going to be extremely helpful. --Revanche (talk|contribs) 10:59, 31 August 2021 (EDT)

My Redlinks[edit]

Hiya, saw that you purged my redlinks - specifically, the BattleTech rulebooks. :) Frabby (talk) 14:37, 16 September 2021 (EDT)

Options for new layout[edit]

Hello Mbear, I communicated with Dmon about a new layout for the existing military organization sites. He think Version 2 is acceptable. Before I start anything, I ask the Mods for their approval. The site for the version is User:Neuling/test-rework. Tell me your opinion about it and perhaps we found common ground. Neuling (talk) 16:03, 27 September 2021 (EDT)

House Zibler[edit]

Hey Mbear,

Just a heads up that I re-removed most of the characters you added from the Crazy Eights as they where in the family tree. The intent is that the bottom section is "Other family members" who we don't have a spot for in the tree.--Dmon (talk) 15:38, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
