Unit Description

XV Corps (or the Fifteenth Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League XV Corps was a large corps, consisting of 9 divisions and 2 independent regiments.[1]

History

In 2764 XV Corps was part of the 15th Army, assigned to District 2 of the Draconis Combine Military Region. When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 XV Corps was deployed into into the Periphery Military Region along with the rest of the 15th Army.[1]

XV Corps took significant losses in the Periphery Uprising, losing the two mechanized infantry divisions and the independent 20th Light Horse Regiment in combat and the 47th Infantry Division took heavy losses, leading to it being disbanded in 2766. The reduced XV Corps then fought through the Hegemony Campaign, taking heavy damage; three more divisions and the remaining independent regiment were all destroyed during the course of the campaign, leaving the Corps with a combat strength of just one BattleMech Division, The Devils Of Devil's Rock, and two Mechanized Infantry Divisions, the 1st Royal and the Division du Aquitaine.[1]

When General Aleksandr Kerensky led the bulk of the SLDF on the Exodus in 2784 all of the surviving units within XV Corps followed him.[1]
