Zion Province was a member state of the Free Worlds League from 2941 until the League's dissolution in 3079.

The province was created during the Third Succession War after Capellan nobleman Vincente Sian-Marik was convinced to defect to the League. Distrustful of the Sian-Marik family, Captain-General Samuel Marik opted to split Sian-Marik's holdings into Zion and Ohren Provinces, with Zion itself grouped together with Kyrkbacken, Asuncion and Suzano under the new arrangement.[1][2][3]

Capellan loyalists inflicted heavy damage on the province's industry before being driven off, and by the end of the Third Succession War Zion was a war-torn and contested region undergoing recovery during times of peace. During Anton Marik's rebellion in 3014-3015 Zion Province was unwillingly dragged into the civil war by Anton's supporters before being liberated late in the conflict.[4][5]

During the 3050s period of détente between the League and the Capellan Confederation, the prospect of a dynastic marriage between Chancellor Sun-Tzu Liao and Captain-General Thomas Marik's eldest child Isis Marik sparked unrest in the anti-Capellan province. In late 3057 when the region was used as a staging ground by CCAF units during Operation GUERRERO, open rebellion erupted with secessionist elements declaring Zion Province's independence from the League. FWLM forces put the rebellion down with a military government installed in the aftermath, and the subsequent ending of the Liao-Marik alliance in the early 3060s proved to be a cruel irony to the damaged province.[6][7]

In the aftermath of the Free Worlds League's collapse, Zion and Asuncion were annexed by the Republic of the Sphere while the remaining worlds merged with their neighbors to form the Ohrenson-Zion Province. This union lasted only a few years before it too became part of the Republic.[8][9]
