Planetary History

Founding

Steelton was settled by a mixture of artists and craftsmen from Kufstein and Predlitz, technicians from St. John and engineers from New Bergen. This eclectic mix of settlers were refugees fleeing from the Rasalhague Principality as a result of Shiro Kurita's campaign to try and annex this nation during the 2330s-2340s.[1]

Rim Worlds Republic

Steelton was one of the worlds targetted by Maxwell Rowe during his efforts to build up the Rim Worlds Republic, beginning in 2330; Rowe began by negotiating a series of trade and barter pacts with worlds like Steelton, carefully avoiding any suggestions of a military alliance, defensive or otherwise. Rowe added offers of social and technological favours including access to new Rim Worlds Republic university facilities over time, and through guile and slow but steady progress persuaded the natives of Steelton to join the Republic.[2]

Steelton was a part of the Apollo Province of the Rim Worlds Republic and was conquered by the Lyran Commonwealth during the 2773 - 2775 Republic-Commonwealth war.[3]

Clan Invasion of 3050

In April of 3050, Clan Jade Falcon dispatched the 8th and the 12th Falcon Regulars Clusters to take Steelton. The world's defenses were lead by Colonel Francis "Crab" Carranza, commandeding the planet's militia force and the 1st Regiment of the 12th Star Guards. Colonel Carranza bluffed the Jade Falcon forces by making it appear he had brigade of forces defending the planet. The inflated number of troops forced the bidding Jade Falcon commander to call in reinforcements which ultimately led to the Colonel's demise. The Falcons targetted the planet's capital city of Cregan's Bluff as the main objective; in course of the battle the 12th Star Guards positions were overrun by Falcon forces, but the 12th managed to hold their positions long enough for elements of the Star Guards and the surviving militia forces to evacuate the planet, but couldn't prevent the death of Colonel Carranza.[4]

Jihad

During the Jihad, Clan Hell's Horses launched a invasion of the Clan Wolf holdings in the Inner Sphere, acquiring holdings for their own relocation to Spheroid space. Steelton was one of the first worlds targetted, and was attacked in the opening wave of attacks that fell between the 21st and 28th of February 3071.[5] The acquisition of Steelton by the Hell's Horses wasn't unopposed; between the 7th and 14 of April 3071, Clan Jade Falcon launched an attack against the Hell's Horses forces on te world.[6] Despite the efforts of the Jade Falcons, the Hell's Horses managed to recapture Steelton by the end of June.[7]
