BTW Admin.jpg

If you need help or attention to a problem, please leave a note to all Admins HERE or for me HERE, and you'll get a response as soon as we can.

Remember: don't edit others' userpages. Leave notes for them on their discussion tabs. Thanks.

About Me

Let's see: I used to be quite active on Heavy Metal Pro's forums when I discovered the value of Rick Raisley's suite of programs (probably around 1999), though my involvement has dropped off in some years. I've lurked on the various incarnations of the official BattleTech boards for longer than that, only recently becoming active in the community (though I've been around long enough to see my post count started three times with the various board wipes). Before that, there was Sarna and the Usenet, though under a different (and secret) handle.

Current Status: Very stressed with real life, and desperately looking to do what I want to do for a few hours. However, working 10 days straight means I have a number of homelife requirements due, as well, especially with a son who adores his 'daddy' and wants to spend time with him. Family members who invited themselves for the holidays to my temporary patch of California life means I have to spend this one day off (if I don't get called back in to work) and the weekend cleaning up my office for them to crash in. All I know is I still will have 5 days of leave left after they leave to relax and forget my job. (10:41, 14 December 2006 (CST))

UserBars (by Skuggi)

  • BTW Admin.jpg

I have to say, being made an admin by Nic was a nice honor, and I hope to earn the right to 'wear' this UserBar by my future actions here.

  • BTW PMBattleMechs.jpg

Proud member of this project, working under a dedicated Project Lead, CJKeys.

Awards

None yet, but as soon as I get that program up, this should be an even more interesting place!

Projects To Develop

No particular order:

  • Unit Faction template: to include designation as canon, what 'verse, or as fan creation.
  • BattleTechWiki Policies: Upon approval from Nic, start writing editor policies pertinent to CBT and this wiki, including:
    • Real Person articles
    • 3R Rule (3 reverts per 24 hours)
    • Votes
    • Neutrality
  • Editing tags: vote-in-progress, etc.
  • FAQ page
  • Develop concepts for the left-side toolbar, to include: Sandbox link, Policies link
  • The BattleTechWiki equivalent of Wikipedia's barnstar awards.

Special Thanks

  • Nicjansma: Our admin and our host. Thanks for doing this, both with Sarna and BattleTechWiki. The latter has already eaten up a lot of my personal time, but its been fun.
  • CJKeys: While I hope BattleTechWiki becomes as big a resource as any for CBT (and its various other incarnations), my faith in its development has been bolstered largely by CJKey's articles for the 'Mechs catagory. They have been well-designed and numerous, which -I think- goes a long way into inspiring others to write similar articles. If it were just Nic and myself at this point, I'd probably feel overwhelmed with what had to be done. Thanks, CJ.
  • Jimmy the Tulip: A good bud of mine for several years now, who has stuck around the times o' plenty and the (more common) times of famine. Thanks for coming over here, Jimmy, and adding legitimacy to this project (especially with the Southern Hemisphere crowd).
  • Xoid: I don't know him too well, yet, but he's already made his mark upon BTW and taught me some-some with his methods. He has inspired my confidence the quickest I've ever had for someone newly met on the internet, and I hope we can get him to stick around and make this a better place.

Important Milestones

  • 08 September 2006 - The wiki that will become BTW makes its initial appearance.
  • 11 September 2006 - BTW is born.
  • 14 September 2006 - Nic posts on the CBT forums that, "I've converted Sarna.net to a wiki format." I immediately question why BattleTech needs two wikis (hey, I chose sides too quickly!).
  • 17 September 2006 - I make my first edit on BTW: an addition of information on Talitha, my favorite CBT planet.
  • 03 October 2006 - Nic approves my entry for the new design of the Main Page.
  • 04 October 2006 - Nic promotes me to Admin (the first one), to give me greater authority to work on my improvement projects.
  • 24 November 2006 - BTW earns its money with me, when I turn to it first for information on Randis IV.
  • 10 March 2007 - I embark on a Federally-mandated wikibreak.
  • 06 December 2007 - I return from my first significant wikibreak.
