Mountain Wolf BattleMechs is a weapons manufacturer with factories in the Lyran Commonwealth and Outworlds Alliance.
Overview[edit]
Founded in the Lyran Commonwealth during the first Star League, Mountain Wolf BattleMechs was a key supplier of light BattleMechs. The Night Hawk proved so popular that the company opened a subsidiary factory in the Outworlds Alliance when the Alliance was a Star League Territory, owned and led by House O'Leary.[2] A Free Worlds League raid in 2945 destroyed the Vendrell plant,[1] and eventually the Succession Wars also severely damaged the Alpheratz facilities, and Mountain Wolf BattleMechs became little more than a memory.
Michael O'Leary's leadership of the company was a period of stagnation; he traveled throughout the Inner Sphere attempting to sell his company's 'Mechs while simultaneously negotiating for the facilities needed in which to build them. As most of the Inner Sphere lacked the technology to make Mountain Wolf's traditional 'Mechs from their heyday, and the Succession Wars had left few corporate leaders feeling generous to potential rivals, he barely managed to keep the company alive. Mountain Wolf was little more than a empty shell, a hollow corporation held aloft by generations of networking and loyalty, gathering materials and 'Mech supplies out of momentum alone, and with no real products to provide anyone.[3]
Shortly after Michael's death in the early thirty-first century, his son, Brandon O'Leary spent much of his family's fortune to restore the Alpheratz facility, while also developing marital ties with their traditional home of Vendrell by marrying the Duchess Olivia Hart. The production line on Alpheratz started producing a new design, the Merlin in 3010, and profits from their sale allowed O'Leary to restore the Vendrell plant which reopened fully in 3055.[1][2] The Night Hawk reentered production on Vendrell that same year, and eight years later the Night Hawk started to come off the Alpheratz production lines as well.[2] Despite the brisk sales after the FedCom Civil War the company was still on shaky financial ground in 3067.[1]
During the Jihad, the Vendrell facility wasn't damaged, and in 3077, it was again at full production, launching then the first run of Night Hawks produced there.[4]
However, in 3079, various supplier difficulties reduced the factory's output to 85% of its maximum output.[5] The Alpheratz factory was operating at 80% capability at this time.[6]
