Ronin War[edit]
During the Ronin War the 3rd Drakøns were assigned to attack Orestes, Warlord Vasily Cherenkoff's rally point for Johiro's Regiment, the Twenty-second Rasalhague Regulars, and the Altenmarkt Militia to launch attempts to reclaim breakaway worlds. The Third arrived and tied all three regiments up, aided by the Legion of the Rising Sun and the Dismal Disinherited mercenary units on loan from the Lyran Commonwealth.
With mercenaries attacking the Rasalhague Regulars and Night Stalkers, the Drakøns rolled over the Altenmarkt militia and captured vital supplies, before gaining air superiority over the planet. Despite protests from the LCAF military advisers assigned to the Third, after it became apparent to Överste Jorges Ulbrecht that Johiro's Regiment was attempting to protect the largely Combine citizens of Kiertenbach, the Överste made contact with Tai-sa Johiro and struck a deal to help evacuate the citizenry if the regiment would stand down. After watching for any treachery, the Night Stalkers stood down and surrendered to Republic forces in mid-August.

Clan Invasion[edit]
The unit was stationed on world of Matamoras in 3050. Like its sister regiment, the Second Night Stalkers only allowed retired MechWarriors at the company level or higher.[7] Some new Chu-is would be assigned to the Night Stalkers as a sort of "finishing school" where they would benefit from the wisdom of the older officers.
Since the Night Stalkers regiments refused to let themselves be used as cannon fodder, they were assigned to difficult tasks. Where the First Night Stalkers were wiped out during the Ronin War, the Second was shamed and sent to Matamoras as a punishment. This system quickly became vitally important during the Clan Invasion. The Night Stalkers used their years of experience to keep the attacking Clans off balance.
Operation Bulldog[edit]
During Operation Bulldog, the Second Night Stalkers defeated Clan Smoke Jaguars Nineteenth Striker Cluster forces that attacked the Combine world of Matamoras.[4][8] The Night Stalkers and 1st Free Worlds Guards pinned the Jaguars in place while Ryuken-yon dropped directly on the Jaguar positions.[9]
Dominion War[edit]
The Second held the world of Darius during the Dominion War.[4]

Jihad[edit]
The Second was nearly wiped out by a Word of Blake assault on Cebalrai. The survivors were recruited by the Black Dragon Society and sent to support the uprising on Ningxia. Though veteran survivors of Blakist assaults, the Second Night Stalkers were wiped out by the Ryuken-roku in less than three months.[10][11]

Notes[edit]
- McGavin's Regiment is noted in Historical: War of 3039, likely in error. The Second (Johiro's Regiment) is the only Night Stalkers regiment listed otherwise in that volume, and the First Night Stalkers (McGavin's Regiment) is detailed as destroyed in 3029 in Combat Manual: Kurita and elsewhere.[19][22][23]
- Special Command Rules for the Second Night Stalkers can be found on page 56 of Combat Manual: Kurita.[1]
