History

The 12th Sun Zhang Academy Cadre was a training cadre in service to House Kurita.

Star League

Prior to the Star League Civil War, the 12th was stationed on Tarnby.[1]

Succession Wars

First Succession War

The 12th Sun Zhang originally was posted on the world of Tarnby, near the Periphery, at the beginning of the First Succession War. At the war's end, the 12th was stationed on Périgueux. It can be assumed that the 12th participated in the fighting along the Federated Suns front at some time during the war.[2]

Second Succession War

The 12th Sun Zhang started the Second Succession War in the Périgueux system and ended the war being stationed on McGehee. From these points, it is assumed that the 12th was involved in fighting on the Federated Suns front during the war.[3]

Third Succession War

In 3025 the unit was stationed on Kessel near the border with the Lyran Commonwealth.[4]

Fourth Succession War

Per records, the 12th Sun Zhang did not participate in the fighting along the Commonwealth-Combine border during the Fourth Succession War.[5]

Ronin Wars

During the Ronin War, the 12th Cadre was considered loyal to Marcus Kurita and were stationed on Rasalhague with the 8th Rasalhague Regulars. The 12th Sun Zhang joined the Ronin during the conflict and fought against the 1st Tyr Regiment on Rasalhague. When the tide of the conflict turned against them, they broke up into guerrilla bands to keep pressure on the Rasalhague forces, but eventually fled to Predlitz. There the survivors of the 12th Sun Zhang were destroyed. Any survivors that did not commit seppuku were executed as traitors to the Combine.[6]

War of 3039

At some point prior to 3039, the 12th Sun Zhang Academy Cadre was reformed by the Draconis Combine. They were stationed on the world of Kessel and were attacked by the Second Donegal Guards, the Eleventh Lyran Regulars and the Fourth Skye Rangers during the opening moves of the War of 3039. While heavily outnumbered, the 12th put up a spirited defense of the planetary capital, Sverdlovsk, and then apparently fled offworld. However, the 12th had only gone into hiding while only the unit's DropShips left Kessel. Later that year, the 12th would reveal themselves to raid Lyran positions as well as link up with the Second Sword of Light and the Fifth Sun Zhang Academy Cadre to drive the Lyrans off of Kessel[7][8]

Clan Invasion

Operation Revival

While on a training mission to Thessalonika in November 3051, the 12th was caught by the surprise return of Clan Ghost Bear during Wave Five of Operation Revival. With the 8th Alshain Regulars, the 12th resisted the invaders the best they could. However, due to losses, the 12th Cadre were disbanded after the Combine forces were driven from Thessalonika.[9][10]
