The Merton system was home to at least one habitable world and as of June 3152 was located in the Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey in the Free Worlds League.[1]

In the years prior to the Amaris Civil War, elements of the Thirteenth Royal Mechanized Infantry Division were ambushed by pirate forces near the planetary capital of Meyer while on patrol. The attacks caused considerable damage to the SLDF forces as well as civilian housing nearby.[41]

The Dark Age[edit]

In 3092 the Marian Hegemony conquered Merton in the face of a determined defense by Camacho's Caballeros. The Hegemony was only able to hold Merton for two years, however; in 3094 a rebellion on the planet threw the Hegemony out, and Merton would remain an independent worlds until the Free Worlds League re-formed in 3136.[35]
