This Cluster is one of the many solahma units in Clan Jade Falcon. Note that "Dark Wing" is a generic term in Clan Jade Falcon denoting solahma units,[2] so the unit described here, also known as The Old Vultures is "a" Dark Wing Cluster, despite some reports only noting them as "The" Dark Wing Cluster.

History[edit]

Operation MERLIN[edit]

In 3051 the unit was assigned to Apollo when Snord's Irregulars attacked the planet in search of an SLDF facility which turned out to be Camelot Command. After defeating a Star of the Cluster, they left the planet, but there was enough information still on the planet for the Dark Wing Cluster to locate the SLDF facility themselves.[3]

The unit embarked in the Hawk Eye (an Aegis-class WarShip) along with the Diamondstar (a Union-C-class DropShip) and the Majestic Defiance (another Union-C). Surprised by the batchall issued by Snord's Irregulars, they accepted the fight, which ended with Damon's loss to Rhonda Snord's Highlander.

The survivors and the DropShips were taken by Snord's Irregulars as isorla and entered their new Clan, Clan Snord.[1] Star Captain Christopher Folkner of the Hawk Eye returned to Apollo and informed the Jade Falcon Khans of Star Colonel Damon's failure and the loss of the facility.[3]

Rebuilding and Tukayyid[edit]

The Jade Solahma Cluster was hastily rebuilt into a smaller formation after the disaster at Camelot Command. While numbering less than four Stars, the unit would still participate in the Battle of Tukayyid.[4]

Post-Refusal War[edit]

Badly damaged in the Refusal War, Jade Solahma Cluster was included in the Coventry campaign so the commanders could see how well the new warriors were performing, using their performance as a benchmark.[5]

The Cluster guarded the Jade Falcon headquarters on Coventry. As a result of the successful raid by the 10th Skye Rangers and other Inner Sphere forces,[6] the Cluster was considered nonoperational as of 3059.

During the FedCom Civil War the Fifteenth Arcturan Guards and Archer's Avengers destroyed the Jade Solahma Cluster Trinary assigned to defend Roadside by destroying an ammunition plant.[7] Despite being described as "composed of screw-ups and "aged" Falcon warriors," the solahma warriors earned their deaths defending the plant against the more numerous Inner Sphere warriors.[8]
