175th Attack Cluster
Disbanded 3071 (Destroyed)
Affiliation Clan Ice Hellion
Parent Command Zeta Prime Galaxy

The 175th Attack Cluster was the command Cluster of Clan Ice Hellion's Zeta Prime Galaxy.

History[edit]

Like most units of the Zeta Prime Galaxy the 175th was composed of mostly freeborn warriors. The 175th led the Zeta Prime galaxy in a raid against a Steel Viper research facility on New Kent.[when?] Previously these raids had been successful, however this time the Cluster lost a Trinary.[1] By 3067 the Cluster had rebuilt and was stationed on New Kent.[2]

Mid-3071 saw the Cluster along with the rest the Zeta Prime Galaxy move to the Inner Sphere. Together with Alpha and Delta Galaxies they formed the primary attack force that moved against Clan Jade Falcon industrial worlds, under Khan Montrose. Zeta Prime assaulted Wotan as its first target, which it took although at high cost to the infrastructure and HPG of the planet.[3] They moved on to capture other planets including in December Seiduts, forcing The Falcon's Delta Galaxy off planet,[4] but was itself forced to retreat in February 3072 when attacked by Hell's Horses' Theta Galaxy.[5]

The exact fate of the Cluster is not recorded, but in 3072 Zeta Prime Galaxy retreated to Vantaa, here along with the remnant of Alpha Galaxy they were assaulted by Clan Jade Falcon's Alpha and Delta Galaxies as well as Clan Hell's Horses's Iota Galaxy. The two understrength Hellion Galaxies took up a defensive position in an industrial complex, as the Hell's Horses advanced the Hellions called in an orbital bombardment from the Cage's Pride. This tore apart the Horse front line but also shattered much of the industrial complex resulting in a toxic spillage of chemicals in the air. When Khan Montrose was killed, Zeta Prime Galaxy charged the Hell's Horses line in an attempt to break out, but were totally destroyed in the attempt.[6]

Officers[edit]

Rank Name Command
Commanding Officers of the 175th Attack Cluster
Galaxy Commander Eld Coddington 3059 - 3067[1][2]

Tactics[edit]

The 175th was noteworthy for its disdain of zellbrigen. They usually get on the battlefield and then target whoever is in their sights. This quickly leads to a general melee. Their battlefield behavior has led to a string of unpleasant second line and garrison assignments.[1]
