Third Succession War[edit]

In 3007, the regiments of McCarron's Armored Cavalry raided New Valencia, baseworld of Wolf's Dragoons. Though they seized several small communities, the Dragoons were able to hold off the Armored Cavalry units long enough for the Eridani Light Horse regiments to arrive. The MAC regiments didn't inflict any damage to the Dragoons, but did raze several villages.[1]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

In the Fourth Succession War, all regiments of McCarron's Armored Cavalry except for the First were stationed on Menke. They later fought along campaign to defend Sarna but had to retreat off-world as Davion reinforcements arrived in the end phase of the war.

Andurien/Canopus Invasion[edit]

In May 3032, the Fourth, along with the other regiments of McCarron's Armored Cavalry, landed on Betelgeuse. They quickly drove the First, Third, and 4th Defenders of Andurien, and the Tooth of Ymir off the world. They inflicted particularly heavy casualties on the First Defenders.[2]

The Fourth then landed on Prix with the Second McCarron's Armored Cavalry. They spent the next three weeks destroying the single battalion of the 3rd Defenders of Andurien. The skillful defense put up by the Defenders impressed the Cavalry, and the Cavalry prevented the Maskirovka's interrogation of the surviving Defenders. Instead the Defenders were repatriated to Andurien via ComStar. The Prix assault netted the Cavalry a great deal of spare parts, ammunition, and other supplies.[3]

Leo's Demons and Barton's Regiment then moved on to Shiba. There they faced the Fifth Defenders of Andurien in July 3034. The Defenders fought for six weeks, but the two experienced mercenary regiments were able to drive them offworld. When the Fifth left, the Fourth didn't pursue.[4] Instead, Leo's Demons received secret orders from Romano Liao herself to conduct a punitive strike against the Magistracy of Canopus homeworld of Canopus IV. Traveling in secret through unpopulated star system, they would arrive in May 3035 with complete surprise achieved. Leo's Demons landed on Canopus IV and began razing the Magistracy's heavy industries and government buildings in their capital. They almost overran Raventhir's Iron Hand and the Canopian Cuirassiers, but Emma Centrella arrived with her personal guard, arriving just in time to stabilize the defense. After two days of heavy fighting, Leo's Demons withdrew, leaving House Centrella's most important government and industrial military complexes and their own capital completely razed as a message from Romano Liao of the reach of the Capellan Confederation.[5]

In 3035, the Fourth was based on Gei-Fu in preparation for a raid on Brighton. At this time Colonel Gordon was anxious to take his regiment out of the CCAF and return to the mercenary life. Because of this, the two battalions of Warrior House Ijori were on Gei-Fu to keep an eye on Gordon's Demons.[6] The Black Widow Battalion landed on Gei-Fu and assaulted the Ijori units but didn't engage the Demons.[7]

War of 3039[edit]

As part of the 'Mac Attack' raids into the Federated Suns during the War of 3039, the Fourth hit Andro on August 7 that year. Forewarned by earlier MAC attacks elsewhere, the planetary militia was already prepared to meet the raiders when they arrived. Though the Fourth destroyed the militia, the fighting saw heavy damage inflicted on the regiment's second and third battalions. In addition the militia succeeded in forcing the mercenaries to leave Andro before they could acquire more than battlefield salvage, or else miss their next scheduled attack.[8]

The Fourth MAC's next target was Monongahela. This raid proved to be far more successful, with the Fourth encountering little opposition from the militia and able to boost offworld a week later with 247 tons of military supplies from the Capellan March Militia storehouses. Intending to proceed to Kathil, the regiment was instead ordered home to Menke which was being hit by AFFS forces.[9]

Xin Sheng Campaign[edit]

The Fourth faced the First St. Ives Lancers on Gei-Fu. They fought the St. Ives unit to a draw, but the battle was otherwise inconclusive.[10]

In 3067, Faith McCarron received permission to search for the force that sabotaged the CCS Ilsa Hyung. She caught up with the Jie Fang Legion and destroyed a company of 'Mechs and armor. Upon her return, her unit was used as the core of a fourth battalion.[11] The entire unit was based on Ares.[12]

Jihad[edit]

During Operation SOVEREIGN JUSTICE Ares was attacked by the Fifth Syrtis Fusiliers and Twentieth Avalon Hussars.[13][14] The Fourth MAC held them off, and with assistance from the Blackwind Lancers, drove the Davion unit off-world.[15]

In 3078, the Fourth Cavalry and Fourth Tau Ceti Rangers grounded on Hsien. There they started a three way fight with the Protectorate Militia units stationed on world and forces that were part of the Coalition. Eventually they joined with the Coalition forces to defeat the Blakist troops, but the Coalition forces prevented them from finishing off the surrendered Blakist unit. The Fourth then turned their attention to the Coalition forces and tried to drive them off Hsien, but were unsuccessful.[16] In fact, Richard Carson was using the standoff on Hsien as a training tool for Faith McCarron.[17]

Republic Era[edit]

Faith McCarron was able to successfully persuade - or intimidate - the Republican forces on Hsien to leave after months of low-level skirmishes and posturing; this impressed Lord Carson enough that he decided it was time to retire, leaving the newly-promoted Sang-shao Faith McCarron in charge of Faith's Fortunates. As of 3081, the Fortunates were eagerly anticipating orders for a campaign against the Republic of the Sphere, with a healthy feeling of competition brewing between the 4th and the regiment commanded by Faith's brother Rhamses McCarron.[18]

In 3081, Sun-Tzu Liao led an assault by the Capellan Confederation on the Republic of the Sphere. The Fourth was assigned to New Canton, where their new commander, Faith McCarron, was killed. The remaining members of the Fourth resisted the combined might of the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Hastati Sentinels, fighting for hours. They eventually surrendered when they had been reduced to two lances. The unit hadn't been rebuilt by 3085.[19]

In 3111, the Fourth had been reconstituted and used as part of Operation CELESTIAL SPEAR. They found great success on Foot Fall, routing the IV Principes Guards.[20]

Dark Age[edit]

Re-formed prior to 3145, the Fourth MAC attacked Cumberland that year. They faced stiff resistance from Cumberland's Missiliers, but eventually took the world.[21] On New Syrtis, the Fourth MAC spread out across the world, rapidly hunting down the last pockets of resistance.[22]

In December 3147, the Fourth was stationed on New Syrtis when the seven AFFS regiments of Task Force Styx arrived. They, along with the First McCarron's Armored Cavalry, Warrior House Hiritsu, Warrior House Kamata, and the Dynasty Guards. The Fourth was the main defending force of the Cave, New Syrtis' planetary command bunker. They faced the First Davion Guards and nearly killed Julian Davion, but the Fifth Crucis Lancers were able to force the Fourth into a retreat. By December 25th the AFFS had officially taken control of New Syrtis.[23]

In November 3149, the Fourth joined Task Force CLARITY in the assault on Northwind. Paired with the First Canopian Lancers they assaulted the capital city, Tara. Defended by the Third Battalion of the XII Hastati Sentinels, the two regiments succeeded in their early engagements. They moved into Tara slowly, going block by block to guard against traps. Therefore, the appearance of the Grey Watch in their rear areas surprised them. Being squeezed from the front and rear, the Fourth withdrew from Tara in a lateral movement. However by 25 November the CCAF had effectively eliminated all resistance. The next day, four Republic of the Sphere regiments arrived to reinforce the planet. The Fourth engaged the 6th Fides Defenders in Tara, near the HPG compound. The Fourth called for any reinforcements from allied worlds.

Early December found the Hikage and Fourth Dieron Regulars regiments deploying on Northwind. Messages from the Fourth were unanswered by the DCMS troops, and Sang-shao Baxter fell victim to a disinformation campaign organized by the Republic and became convinced the DCMS was going to simply take the world for the Dragon. She ordered her aerospace units to fire on DCMS DropShips in orbit. The damaged DropShips landed a few hundred kilometers away, but most of the ground troops made it to Tara by 9 December. There the Fourth faced off against the Hikage, the Grey Watch, and the Republic's Highlanders unit. The Fourth evacuated the HPG compound as they couldn't defeat three regiments. Though they survived they were surprised in the middle of the night when the HPG exploded. Members of the Grey Watch had infiltrated the compound and planted explosives. Several of the Fourth's 'Mechs were caught in the explosion or crushed under rubble. The DCMS left the world as they couldn't capture the HPG. The Fourth and its supporting troops remained, but by December 15 they withdrew to their DropShips and left Northwind.[24]
