Devil's Brigade was a mercenary unit that specialized in archeology and LosTech.

History[edit]

Origins[edit]

The Devil's Brigade was formed in the wake of an incident involving Interstellar Expeditions. While exact details are unknown, it appears that Alex Keller, an IE employee, paid to leave the organization along with others. The nascent Brigade gathered on Galatea, and quickly grew in strength. In 3069, the Devil's Brigade signed a contract to serve as security for the StarCorps installations on Son Hoa.[1][2]

The Devil's Brigade had extensive connections to both StarCorps and Chandrasekhar Kurita during the 3070s; under contract to Kurita and using the information he provided, the Devil's Brigade were responsible for discovering the Hegemony Memory Core on the lost Terran Hegemony world of New Dallas, devastated and abandoned during the First Succession War. The discovery of the Memory Core and its subsequent dissemination throughout the Inner Sphere and beyond attracted attention to the Devil's Brigade; so to did the Brigade's relentless and tenacious fight against the Word of Blake.[3] The Devil's Brigade defended Arcturus when the Word of Blake struck at Kurita's assembled mercenary forces there; the Samhain, an ancient Vulture-class DropShip in service with the Devil's Brigade successfully destroyed a Blakist Union-class DropShip, earning the pilot a reward from Chandrasekhar for the bravery shown.[4][5]

The Devil's Brigade was present on Outreach when the Word of Blake started their Jihad, but left shortly after the initial attack.[6] Chandresekhar Kurita sent them to investigate the remains of New Dallas. There they found little of interest at first, but when they began deep scans of SLDF ruins, they found a Star League Memory Core. Before they could escape however, a Level III from the Word of Blake's 19th Division arrived. The Devil's Brigade escaped through a bunker complex and dodged the Blakists for another week before lifting off with the New Dallas Memory Core.[7]

In 3071, while stationed on Son Hoa to defend the StarCorps facilities they were unable to stop a Word of Blake raid that captured an estimated three months' worth of the factory's output.[8]

In 3073 the Devil's Brigade was on Arcturus with several other mercenary commands. They faced elements of the 40th Shadow Division and Burr's Black Cobras.[9]

During the later years of the Jihad the Devil's Brigade was sent to join the Free Worlds League front of Operation SCOUR. They fought under Alys Rousset-Marik's command as a part of Group II of the task force, alongside the 7th Pesht Regulars, the Home Guard and the Com Guard 5th Army.[10] They were on Hsien when the three way battle erupted between the Word of Blake defenders and the Capellan Confederation and Coalition attackers. They fought alongside the 7th Donegal Guards, 12th Atrean Dragoons, and Clan Hell's Horses' 11th Mechanized Cavalry Cluster. The Capellan 4th McCarron's Armored Cavalry and 4th Tau Ceti Rangers coordinated some strikes against the Blakists, but once the Blakists were defeated they engaged the Coalition troops. Eventually the Brigade and other Coalition forces pushed the Capellans off Hsien.[11]

In December 3076 they raided New Earth in an attempt to destroy the New Earth Trading Company's headquarters, but failed to do so.[12]

Landing on Terra[edit]

During the assault on Terra they joined the Sandhurst front.[13] They took control of the Blackpool city spaceport. They then took control of a TerraSec camp in the Pennines Mountains.[14]
