Antallos III is the third planet in the Antallos system, and is an arid world with two moons. Following the collapse of the Star League civilization on Antallos collapsed quickly, and by the thirty-first century the barren wastes ("Free Zones") of Antallos were home to the worst of humanity. The chemically and biologically-tainted Free Zones were home to roving gangs and itinerant pirate bands. The economy of Antallos, such as it is, ran off of (mainly illegal) free trade.

The bold experiment was a huge success in the era of the Star League.  Wealthy patrons, eager to establish their own fortunes on the otherwise barren frontier world, created successful enclaves that drew in billions and eventually caused the Star League to plant their own bases on the planet in the interest of security.cn
During the Clan Invasion, the Jade Falcon and FedCom forces clashed at three locations: Brigham Rollo, Pickrock Hill, and Santina Trepass.

Planetary History
+
Succession Wars
Early History
+
When the Succession Wars broke out, the Draconis Combine (among others) ravaged the planet for its lostech, eventually massacring half the population. This catastrophe resulted in the collapse of civilization, and Antallos's city-states started fighting amongst themselves. Combatants deployed weapons of every type except atomic and nuclear. As technology and resources dwindled, the intensity and barbarism of these wars have remained unchecked.cn
Anywhere was one of the worlds targetted by Maxwell Rowe during his efforts to build up the Rim Worlds Republic, beginning in 2330; Rowe began by negotiating a series of trade and barter pacts with worlds like Anywhere, carefully avoiding any suggestions of a military alliance, defensive or otherwise. Rowe added offers of social and technological favors including access to new Rim Worlds Republic university facilities over time, and through guile and slow but steady progress persuaded the natives of Anywhere to join the Republic.

Reunification War
+
During the mid-3050s, the planet was adopted by the rogue mercenary unit Vinson's Vigilantes, which attempted to be the planet's guardians while trying to get work. Also during this time, Pirate King, Vance Rezak and the Band of the Damned established their own estates on the outskirts of the city-states. The two powerful factions clashed with each other over the course of years, until 3065.  Where the Vigilantes command collapsed following a failed assault on the Band, before the survivors then joined the Band peacefully. The Damned becomes a powerful faction on the planet.
By the end of the Age of War Anywhere was a member of the Apollo Province of the Rim Worlds Republic. Civil war erupted in the Rim Worlds Republic in 2575, with the factions polarised around those loyal to First Consul Gregory Amaris and those loyal to the Rift Republican Army and the Rim Provisional Government.

The Star League eventually decided to intervene in the civil war in support of Gregory Amaris, and in 2579 assembled Task Force MAILED FIST to help secure Amaris' control over the Rim Worlds Republic. A multinational force headed by the Star League Defense Force, Task Force MAILED FIST was responsible for executing Operation MAILED FIST, the name given to the military intervention. The first wave of attacks focused on securing significant worlds near Apollo, until a destructive raid on Alarion by the 4th Amaris Fusiliers in retaliation prompted the SLDF to alter its initial strategy for the campaign, the focus shifted to reducing Rim Worlds Army concentrations throughout the Republic and the capture of key worlds.
+
Antallos was a harsh world by the thirty-first century. In the northern hemisphere, the Sea of Despair was a vast lifeless desert surrounded by the few city-states which managed to trade across it. To the south were the Shattered Wastes, a badlands region thousands of kilometers long that held the distinction of being one of the roughest areas in the Periphery. The planet’s most vicious native predators lived here among the hidden oases that held small communities.cn

In late 2584 the SLDF changed tactics again; a number of major RWA units had been destroyed or captured, and the focus for the campaign shifted to capturing worlds of strategic importance, but the campaign was slowed by the greatly increased resistance offered by the RWA and local civilian populations, prompted by atrocities performed by the Draconis Auxiliary Corps when they captured Nightwish in mid-2584.
+
Scattered around the world were just over thirty generally dome-enclosed city-states which provided a semblance of order for the majority of the world's population. As there was no central government, these city-states were independent, providing only their residents with security against the Zone Gangs that drifted through the Free Zones.  City-states often financed their existence through slavery and narcotics trafficking as well as other more serious activities. The defense of each city-state was provided by armies of slaves.cn

General Nathan Isaacson assigned a division from IV Corps, the Eleventh Royal Division, to the conquest of Anywhere in 2594. The Star League forces successfully took control of Lackhove, defeating the local militia forces, and remained in place as the local garrison until the Eleventh was redeployed for the invasion of Steelton in 2595.
+
Antallos became home to a small but growing collection of dezgra Clansmen and survivors of Clan Smoke Jaguar after the Clan Invasion. Now belonging to the Clans' Dark Caste, these survivors, of all types, formed their own version of a Zone Gang. Clan "gypsies" and other nomadic raiders employed every type of weaponry from deadly fauna to BattleMechs and wandered the Free Zones between the cities preying on travelers and other gangs. When demanded, itinerant raiders would sporadically bid their services to local warlords for crucial goods.{[cn}}

Star League Era
+
Antallos was also home to outlaws aligned with every major organized crime syndicate within the Inner Sphere, pirates and renegades (including Vinson's Vigilantes), outcasts, prospectors, adventurers and political extremists (including Citizens for Davion Puirty).cn
Anywhere was conquered by the Lyran Commonwealth during the 2773-2775 Republic-Commonwealth war.

Clan Jade Falcon Invasion
+
The largest and wealthiest city on the planet during the thirty-first century was Port Krin.
In March 3050 Anywhere was a target during the first wave of the Clan Jade Falcon's invasion of the Inner Sphere. The planetary defenders included the AFFC 2nd New Ivaarsen Chasseurs and the Anywhere Militia. The 8th Falcon Regulars of the Vau Galaxy lead the assault on Anywhere, and the battle for control of the planet was fought three locations: Pickrock Hill, Brigham Rollo, and Santina Trespass. The 8th Falcons’ speed in their attacks on the Chasseurs caused the AFFC combined-arms force to make several costly mistakes which led to the RCT losing 60% of their forces and the Federated Commonwealth losing control of the planet to the Falcons.

Clan Ice Hellion Invasion
+
There were no formal mercenary hiring halls or anything even resembling a hiring hall on Antallos. Since most of the mercenaries coming to this world were down-on-their-luck or wanted men, and hiring halls were impractical. Many of the mercenary groups had a price on their head, yet they made themselves available to hire in the hopes of finding a way out of their predicament and finding a small amount of legitimacy.
During the Jihad, Clan Ice Hellion launched invasions of a number of Clan Jade Falcon worlds including Anywhere. The Ice Hellions captured the planet briefly in June 3071 with saKhan Conner Rood ahead of his Beta & Zeta Galaxies task force. However, the Ice Hellions were later repulsed by Falcon forces in October 3071.

Most of the deals that were brokered through this planet were those types that no normal mercenary group would take.  Contracts were sometimes signed as a result of trickery or force, and even included pirates as employers.cn

Antallos is a hot, dry, and mostly barren world. Almost ninety percent of the planet is land, most of which is either featureless deserts or rugged badlands, referred to as "Free Zones".  Most of these Free Zones were rendered uninhabitable during the Succession Wars by hostile native wildlife and the residue from biological and chemical warfare.  The planet has five large seas and lakes, two small polar caps, and thick untamed jungle that dominates the equatorial regions.cn

The Antallos system is the location of at least one inhabited world, Antallos III - also referred to as Port Krin - and as at 3145 was an independent world within the Periphery.[1][2]

System Description

The Antallos system is located in the Periphery near the Enif and Greypearl systems[3] and has a K4IV-class primary star.

System History

The Antallos system was settled in 2764 as a joint venture by companies from the Draconis Combine, Federated Suns, Outworlds Alliance and Terran Hegemony, with the intention that the system would serve as a Star League trading post.[citation needed]

Antallos III

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Antallos III is the third planet in the Antallos system, and is an arid world with two moons.

Planetary History

The Star League

Antallos was originally planned as a Star League trading outpost. It was to be a neutral planet where anyone can come to do business.

The bold experiment was a huge success in the era of the Star League. Wealthy patrons, eager to establish their own fortunes on the otherwise barren frontier world, created successful enclaves that drew in billions and eventually caused the Star League to plant their own bases on the planet in the interest of security.[citation needed]

Succession Wars

When the Succession Wars broke out, the Draconis Combine (among others) ravaged the planet for its lostech, eventually massacring half the population. This catastrophe resulted in the collapse of civilization, and Antallos's city-states started fighting amongst themselves. Combatants deployed weapons of every type except atomic and nuclear. As technology and resources dwindled, the intensity and barbarism of these wars have remained unchecked.[citation needed]

The Damned becomes a powerful faction on the planet.[4]

The planet’s most vicious native predators lived here among the hidden oases that held small communities.[citation needed]

The defense of each city-state was provided by armies of slaves.[citation needed]

Antallos became home to a small but growing collection of dezgra Clansmen and survivors of Clan Smoke Jaguar after the Clan Invasion. Now belonging to the Clans' Dark Caste, these survivors, of all types, formed their own version of a Zone Gang. Clan "gypsies" and other nomadic raiders employed every type of weaponry from deadly fauna to BattleMechs and wandered the Free Zones between the cities preying on travelers and other gangs. When demanded, itinerant raiders would sporadically bid their services to local warlords for crucial goods.{[cn}}

Antallos was also home to outlaws aligned with every major organized crime syndicate within the Inner Sphere, pirates and renegades (including Vinson's Vigilantes), outcasts, prospectors, adventurers and political extremists (including Citizens for Davion Puirty).[citation needed]

The largest and wealthiest city on the planet during the thirty-first century was Port Krin.

Most of the deals that were brokered through this planet were those types that no normal mercenary group would take. Contracts were sometimes signed as a result of trickery or force, and even included pirates as employers.[citation needed]

The Jihad

Clan Snow Raven’s invasion of Antallos and occupation completely disrupted all mercenary operations on the planet.[citation needed]

Geography

Antallos is a hot, dry, and mostly barren world. Almost ninety percent of the planet is land, most of which is either featureless deserts or rugged badlands, referred to as "Free Zones". Most of these Free Zones were rendered uninhabitable during the Succession Wars by hostile native wildlife and the residue from biological and chemical warfare. The planet has five large seas and lakes, two small polar caps, and thick untamed jungle that dominates the equatorial regions.[citation needed]
