System Description[edit]
Wapakoneta is located near the Lima and Marlowe's Rift systems[4][5] and consists of a class K0V primary orbited by at least six planets. It lies Spinward from Terra. During the thirty-first century a recharge station was in place at the zenith jump point.[3][6]
System History[edit]
The Wapakoneta system was settled during the Star League era at some point after the end of the Reunification War.[7][8]

Wapakoneta VI, more commonly referred to simply as Wapakoneta, is the sixth planet in the system and has a single moon named Auglaize.[1]
Planetary History[edit]
During the thirty-first century the bulk of the planetary population lived on New Wisconsin, with a much smaller population living on Little Florida Island. The other three continents on Wapakoneta were left uninhabited. The local economy was largely based around exporting aquaculture-grown marine life, although the planet had many small, beautiful islands that could have generated a valuable tourism industry if not for Wapakoneta's perilous location on the border between the Draconis Combine and Federated Suns.[1]
Third Succession War[edit]
In September 3028, forces of the Draconis Combine would engage elements of Wolf's Dragoons in the Battle of Wapakoneta.[37]

Geography[edit]
Wapakoneta has five large continents and many islands scattered through the large freshwater seas that cover most of its surface. The largest continent, New Wisconsin, is located on the equator and is covered in forests. Little Florida Island is the smallest continent and it is also the one located furthest away from the equator; most of the island is covered in glaciers. The remaining three continents are scattered across the planet's surface and are subject to massive typhoons that whip across them constantly.[1]
Planetary Locations[edit]
- Camp Getty: a military base established by the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns at Stygian Shoals; reputedly the best marine combat school in the Draconis March at one point[1]
- Hannibal: city where an important engagement occurred during the Battle of Wapakoneta (3028)[37]
- Sarola River[37]
- Stygian Shoals: an island located off the south coast of Little Florida island which measures sixty kilometers long and sixteen wide[1]
- Tassel: a city located on Little Florida Island[1]
- Yaston[35]
Notes[edit]
- Possible naming inspiration for the planet: Wapakoneta, Ohio, is the birthplace of astronaut Neil Armstrong (1930–2012), the first human being to walk on the surface of the moon.
