Planetary Info

Weingarten has four continents: Wurttemberg (where the capital city Neuberlin is located), Schussen, Baden, and Ravensburg.[2]

The planet is best known for its vast wine industry. The mild weather and long growing seasons make Weingarten ideal for growing crops, particularly grapes. The unique soil composition of Weingarten provides a flavor that cannot be reproduced anywhere else in the Inner Sphere, wine from the world is highly prized which leads to large profit margins for exporters.[1]

For most of its history Weingarten was ignored by military forces. It lacks strategic importance, defense industries, or vital resources, so occupiers simply changed the planet's administration and raked in the profits from the wine trade. For example in November 3051 with the start of the Fifth Wave of the Clan Invasion the planet was defended by local militia units, the 1st and 4th Weingarten Armored Militia Regiments, but at Ghilly Ridge the majority were surrounded by the 7th Battle Cluster and taken prisoner. With their capitulation the planetary government went into exile and Clan Wolf's Merchant caste followed the same path as previous conquerors. The Wolves barely acknowledged that the world was part of their occupation zone and enjoyed the profits.[31][1]

This continued until the Word of Blake's 3070 strike on Tamar. With so much of the planet irradiated, a new administrative center had to be found quickly. Weingarten was selected by the Clan Wolf leadership, and a month after Tamar's destruction they arrived. Expanding the live-fire ranges and military bases they had created, the Wolves plowed under multiple vineyards and commandeered many administrative buildings. By 3079 it was the administrative capital of the Wolf Occupation Zone.[1]
