The Ferris system was the location of at least one habitable world, Ferris II, and as of 3145 was an independent Periphery system on the border of the Raven Alliance.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

Ferris is located near the Jeppens and Trimaldix systems[2][3] and consists of a class G6V primary orbited by at least two planets.[1]

System History[edit]

The Ferris system was either colonized by the Outworlds Alliance during the Star League era at some point after the Reunification War, or was an already-inhabited system that became significant enough for Inner Sphere nations to begin recording its location on maps during this era.[2][3]

Ferris II, more commonly known simply as Ferris, is the second planet in the Ferris system.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Reunification War[edit]

Ferris didn't attract significant attention from the Star League and Draconis Combine forces during Operation UNION HOLD, the five-year campaign from 2581 to 2585 intended to forcibly incorporate the Outworlds Alliance into the Star League. Other nearby worlds such as Banori and Loparri were subject to damaging raids by Star League forces, acting under orders from the Outworlds Alliance Task Force commander, General Amos Forlough, to defeat the will and means of the Alliance to resist by targeting towns, cities and infrastructure on worlds across the Alliance. Ferris may well have been a target for such a raid as well given the systematic manner in which the Star League Defense Force were attacking Alliance worlds, but the pivotal battle now known as the Day of Vengeance fought on the nearby mining world of Tellman IV stopped the Star League raids indefinitely.[40] After the Treaty of Cerberus came into effect on 1 August 2585, Ferris remained a member of the Outworlds Alliance.[5][6][41]

The Jihad[edit]

Ferris was also the location of an AGDA training facility for militia MechWarriors,[1][42] armor personnel, and conventional infantry. The AGDA facility on Ferris was suffering from a decline in training levels, as the facility was increasingly refusing to interact with the other three major AGDA facilities located in the Alliance because of a desire to avoid being "tainted" by the Snow Ravens. Despite the decline in training standards the facility was trying to reactivate its former aerospace fighter program.[1]

Geography[edit]

Ferris has three continents: Wiener Riesenrad, Tempozan—where the capital city Chicago is located—and Diakanransha.[1]

Planetary Locations[edit]

  • AGDA Training Facility Ferris: a military training facility located in Chicago on Tempozan[1]
  • Chicago: the planetary capital city, located on Tempozan[1]
