Description[edit]
The Fire Falcon was created in the early-3050s, apparently as a replacement for the Mist Lynx; it is faster, has more front-facing armor, and more pod space, though it lacks the jump jets of that earlier 'Mech. It makes use of weight-saving materials in the form of an XL engine, an endo steel internal structure, and four tons of ferro-fibrous armor. Clan Jade Falcon first produced this OmniMech on their capital of Ironhold, but they soon began to produce it on the Occupation Zone headquarters of Sudeten.[1][7] In November of 3069, Clan Steel Viper would sack Ironhold as part that Clan's effort to expel the Jade Falcons from the Clan Homeworlds. The invasion would end up destroying the Fire Falcon' production facilities, letting the design fade from use by Homeworlds based Clans.[8][9]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Primary configuration of the Fire Falcon is best at short to medium ranges where it can bring its twin Streak SRM-4 launchers, medium pulse laser, two ER medium lasers, and two ER small lasers to bear. While this barrage is powerful for a 'Mech its size, 10 double heat sinks are mostly able to keep the design cool.[1][7]
Alternate Configurations[edit]
- Alternate Configuration B
- This is also a long-range configuration that makes use of a pair of ER large lasers guided by a targeting computer. BV (1.0) = 1,275[4][12], BV (2.0) = 1,570[1][13]
- Alternate Configuration C
- Designed for scouting and work against infantry, the C uses an active probe to find hidden targets. To use against those targets, it carries one medium pulse laser, one small pulse laser, one ER small laser, and a pair of SRM-6s. Against soft targets, four machine guns provide ample infantry killing power. BV (1.0) = 930[4][14], BV (2.0) = 1,004[1][15]
- Alternate Configuration D
- A spotter, the D carries TAG and a Narc missile beacon. If it gets caught in combat, it can use a pair of SRM-4s and one ER medium laser. BV (1.0) = 745[4][16], BV (2.0) = 826[1][17]
- Alternate Configuration F
- This variant is designed to destroy infantry and battle armored troops. Equipped with an active probe to sniff out targets, each side torso carries a Machine Gun Array with four machine guns for infantry, while the arms each carry an ER micro laser and ER small laser to deal with battle armor. For heavier targets, the Fire Falcon F carries a single ER large laser. BV (2.0) = 1,135[20]
- Alternate Configuration G
- This variant carries a ProtoMech AC/4 in the right arm and an improved heavy large laser in the left arm. One ton of autocannon ammunition is also carried. Finally, a supercharger allows the Fire Falcon to sprint at 160 km/h. BV (2.0) = 1,296[2]
- Alternate Configuration H
- The H configuration uses a pair of heavy medium lasers and a pair of heavy small lasers. Another pair of medium pulse lasers provide more accurate fire, while three additional double heat sinks keep the 'Mech cool. BV (1.0) = 1,003[4][21][22], BV (2.0) = 1,162[1][23]
- Alternate Configuration I
- This striker configuration carries a pair of ER medium lasers in each arm, supported by another ER medium laser in the right torso and a plasma cannon with a ton of ammunition in the left torso. An extra double heat sink is carried in the center torso. BV (2.0) = 1,135[2]
- Alternate Configuration L
- This configuration has an ER PPC in the left arm, supported by four ER small lasers in the right arm. These are all tied into an advanced targeting computer. BV (2.0) = 1,665[2]
- Alternate Configuration R
- This mixed tech configuration has two ATM-3s with two tons of ammunition in the left torso. The left arm carries a pair of micro pulse lasers, while the right arm carries a medium re-engineered laser and small re-engineered laser. BV (2.0) = 846[2]
- Alternate Configuration T
- This configuration carries two improved heavy medium lasers and two improved heavy small lasers in the right arm and a medium pulse laser in the left arm; these are tied into a targeting computer. To capitalize on damage dealt, the left torso carries a Streak SRM-4 with a ton of ammunition and a single Improved One Shot SRM-4. To sprint into and out of range quickly, the center torso carries a supercharger. BV (2.0) = 1,661[2]
Design Quirks[edit]
The Fire Falcon has the following Design Quirks:[24]
Related BattleMechs[edit]
- Stiletto - Using examples of the Fire Falcon salvaged in the wake of the Battle of Coventry, Coventry Metal Works would reverse engineer the chassis to develop the standard Inner Sphere BattleMech called the Stiletto.[25]
Notable Pilots[edit]
Notes[edit]
- In German products, the unit's proper name was translated to Brandfalke, which literally means Blaze Falcon.[citation needed]
