Isesaki Shipping could trace its history back hundreds of years to before the first Star League.[1][2] Founder Uchio Randolph petitioned the Coordinator for corporate control over the entire Isesaki system and the first colony was built in 2612. Within two centuries, the company had built two JumpShip yards, several microgravity manufacturing facilities, and a small spacecraft manufacturing complex.[4]
While the company had gone through changes throughout the centuries, Isesaki had always held a royal patent to trade anywhere in human occupied space.[5] While the wars between the states of the Inner Sphere had sometimes prevented the company from trading as freely as it wished, the company's agents and its extensive contacts with "independent" traders ensured Isesaki could always find someone willing to make a deal.[1][2][3]
Isesaki Shipping was known to have ties to virtually every shadow and political organization in Combine space, including the Internal Security Force, yakuza, Order of Five Pillars, and Black Dragons.[6]
After the Ronin War, Isesaki received considerable financial assistance as "Uncle Chandy" began to clandestinely invest in the company as a means of securing Hachiman Taro Electronics' shipping routes as well as allowing him to establish an extensive network of contacts beyond the Combine's borders.[7] In 3056, Isesaki hired several smaller mercenary commands to defend its ships from pirate forces.[8]
