Assigned to the New Earth Theater, from 9 to 10 on the Inner Sphere Clock, the ComGuard 9th Army faced multiple Clans during the Battle of Tukayyid, adopting the name of The Rag Tags.

History
The Ninth Army escaped the FedCom Civil War with only minor casualties. One of its divisions skirmished with Loyalist troops, and elements of Free Skye unsuccessfully courted the support two divisions in Skye Province, but the rest of the force managed to avoid all but the most cursory contact with the warring factions. Much of this can be attributed to Precentor Sonic Owens, who convinced both sides of his troops' neutrality and their importance in securing Alliance worlds. [1]
After the beginning of the Jihad the ComGuard Armies were stretched too thin. To counteract this, the 7th-12th Armies were disbanded and used to reinforce the 1st-6th Armies. This gave each of the newly-reinforced Armies a full six Divisions. The 9th Army was one of the formations affected.[2]
