The Scheat (Beta Pegasi) system and its fifth planet were described in some detail in the now apocryphal BattleTechnology magazine (Issue #0101, pp. 32-39, "Drop Into Hell" story); however, the system description from that story cannot be reconciled with the description given in the canonical Dark Age: Republic Worlds (3130) atlas. See Notes below for details.

Planetary Info

Scheat has basic metal ores in its crust and rich fertile soil. As a result the world's economy is based on exporting aluminum, iron, lumber, and textiles. As one of the border worlds between the Combine and the Terran Hegemony, a small 'Mech repair plant was established on the world. During the Succession Wars the Combine quickly took the world, but raids by other Great Houses destroyed the 'Mech repair facility. With the loss of the 'Mech repair plant and Scheat's moderate agricultural output, Scheat was practically ignored during the Succession Wars.[1]

Notes

  • The story Drop Into Hell in BattleTechnology #0101 described Scheat as an M-class red giant star, and Scheat V ("Hell") "the only habitable rock" in the system with a gravity of 1.01g. This information seems to be invalidated by later canonical data describing the system as outlined above.
