System Description[edit]

The New Ivaarsen system is located near the Royal and Ballentine systems and consists of a class K1V primary orbited by at least three planets. It is located Spinward of Terra. During the thirty-first century, a recharge station was in place at both the zenith and nadir jump points.[2][1]

System History[edit]

The New Ivaarsen system was settled sometime prior to 2571.[2]

Planetary History[edit]

First Succession War[edit]

New Ivaarsen was invaded during the first half of the major invasion into the Federated Suns launched by the Draconis Combine in May 2787.[13] New Ivaarsen was liberated by the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns in 2812 as part of the third and final major AFFS counteroffensive of the First Succession War against the Draconis Combine.[14]

Third Succession War[edit]

A Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery raiding party landed on the planet and quickly overpowered the planet's garrison. Only the arrival of the Bremond Draconis March Militia was able to turn the tide and liberated the planet.[48]

In 3024, elements of Wolf's Dragoons mercenary unit would attack New Ivaarsen.[49]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Following a lull in early 3029, a number of new offensives began as the Fourth Succession War entered its second year. In early July 3029, Coordinator Takashi Kurita moved to Irurzun from Luthien and took more of an interest in combat actions on the border between the Draconis Combine and Federated Suns than he had earlier in the war, where his attention had been almost completely focused on Wolf's Dragoons. Ten days after arriving on Irurzun Takashi had drafted and launched a new offensive aimed at securing more worlds from the Federated Suns, and the DCMS inexorably annexed the worlds of the Galtor Thumb region. With New Ivaarsen being an obvious target for future invasion waves, in mid-3029 the AFFS High Command redeployed the Robinson Draconis March Militia and the First NAIS Training Cadre to New Ivaarsen, where they began preparing defenses in anticipation of an attack.[50]

FedCom Civil War[edit]

New Ivaarsen has a great deal of industry and agriculture, supporting not only itself but several nearby systems. When the Crucis Pact formed, the Stephenson family saw the opportunity and grabbed it with both hands. New Ivaarsen has since become one of the most pro-Davion, anti-Kurita worlds in the Federated Suns. The fact that any Combine attack against either Robinson or New Avalon must travel through New Ivaarsen explains the presence of the New Ivaarsen Chasseurs on the world. Failure to neutralize New Ivaarsen would leave a large group of anti-Kurita forces in the Dragon's rear area.[1]

New Ivaarsen can lay claim to one of the most unique accolades: It has the highest literacy rate in the Federated Suns. Only Terra itself can claim a higher percentage, and not by much. In addition the architecture of New Ivaarsen is required study for all such programs across the Inner Sphere.[1]
