Description
The Machine Gun simply issues forth a stream of bullets at a high rate of fire, though the weapon rarely suffers ammunition shortages. The Machine Gun is mostly found carried by infantry squads or power-armored suits as well as mounted on lighter 'Mechs and vehicles due to its small size and weight.
The damage from a Machine Gun can be devastating to conventional infantry, but this class of weapon has a low damage rating against armored targets such as BattleMechs and Combat Vehicles, this class of weapon also has a very low range when used against armored targets.
Ammo Handling
BattleMechs and vehicles (massing more than 5 tons) allot Machine Gun ammunition in half-ton (100 "round") as well as full ton (200 "round") lots. Powered Armor (of all types, including BattleArmor) and vehicles massing less than 5 tons are alloted ammo in 5 kg lots that are consumed in a single "round" or turn of fire.
