History

The homeworld of the 10th Deneb Light Cavalry is New Avalon. In early 3014 Hanse Davion lead the 34th Avalon Hussars, 10th Deneb Light Cavalry and the Davion Heavy Guards in an attack against the toxic world Halstead Station attempting to destroy the large Draconis Combine supply depot being built there. The defending 9th Dieron Regulars and 2nd Proserpina Hussars regiments - though failing to stop the destruction of the supply depot - still managed to keep all three AFFS regiments tied up until Takashi Kurita could arrive with the fresh 2nd Sword of Light.

During the War of 3039, the 10th Deneb Light Cavalry, along with the 1st Robinson Rangers and 93rd Mechanized Brigade, was part of a taskforce led by Field Marshal James Sandoval to recapture the important BattleMech producing world of Marduk, lost to Draconis Combine forces during the Fourth Succession War. The AFFS taskforce greatly outnumbered the local militia and battalion of Sixth Benjamin Regulars defending the world, capturing the planet with relative ease. [1]

Digging in the face of an expected counter attack, AFFS forces outnumbered the remains of the Sixth and Eigth Galedon Regulars sent to retake the planet, inflicting heavy losses thanks to the old-school Kurita tactics practiced by both units. Trapping the Combine forces in the remains of a Succession Wars era fort, the Light Cavalry only withdrew when First Prince Hanse Davion recalled the FedCom forces, but not before they stripped machinery and materials from the manufacturers on-world.[2]

During the FedCom Civil War the 10th Deneb Light Cavalry RCT supported Katherine Steiner-Davion.[3] The 10th DLC remained on New Avalon for most of the war. When the Davion Assault Guards and 1st Crucis Lancers landed on the world, the 10th conducted a lightning raid that broke their advance and allowed them to destroy a brigade of troops loyal to Victor.[4] Those two units withdrew to rebuild, and Victor led a task force against the 10th DLC that destroyed them in seven weeks.[5] As Victor was leading the 23rd Arcturan Guards, 6th Crucis Lancers, 10th Lyran Guards, 1st NAIS Cadet Cadre, the Outland Legion, and a battalion of the 1st St. Ives Lancers, the destruction of the 10th DLC wasn't a surprise.[6]

Officers

As of 3062 the commanding officer was Hauptmann General Jameston Gaston.

Like all the Deneb Light Cavalry, the 10th preferred to use their superior speed and mobility to hit the enemy from a variety of unexpected directions, keeping them off balance and unable to respond effectively.
