History[edit]

Formation[edit]

The first nineteen Marik Militia regiments were all formed prior to 2650.

Succession Wars[edit]

Still recuperating from their losses on Loric in 3002 where they took severe losses in their assault on the coastal city of Tromoth and would not return to full strength until 3008,[1] the Fifteenth Marik Militia was deployed on Rochelle in mid-3007 following that planet's hard-fought defense against a Lyran attack. In the aftermath of the fighting, House Marik was facing unrest among their numerous battered mercenary commands, and at least one 'Mech duel ensued between elements of the Fifteenth and disgruntled mercenaries. One mercenary unit—McFinney's Manglers—led an uprising and, together with other mercenaries, fought their way past elements of the Fifteenth to the Arzenburg starport. They would go on to form the famed Snord's Irregulars.

In 3010, elements of the Fifteenth Marik Militia clashed with Snord's Irregulars on Uhuru. At the time, the Fifteenth were using experimental jamming equipment.[2] Later in that year they staged a successful raid against Cor Caroli, obtaining large amounts of valuable engine parts.

Anton's Revolt[edit]

In 3015, the Fifteenth took serious damage from Anton Marik's rebel forces.[1] They had been isolated on Berenson when Anton Marik adjusted their JumpShip schedules. The Fifteenth was present on the world, but couldn't get replacement parts or other supplies. With that in mind the Third Marik Militia and Fourth Ducal Guard landed on the world. Rather than face them head on the Fifteenth conducted a guerrilla war and a series of fighting withdrawals. These tactics kept them in the field and fighting much longer than the rebel command thought they would. They lost a battalion of troops before they were reinforced by the Thirty-first Marik Militia.[3][4]

Eventually the Fourth Ducal Guard was destroyed and the Third Marik Militia withdrew to Park Place. The Fifteenth pursued them, and after two weeks of heavy fighting the Third surrendered.[5]

Raiding Liao[edit]

For around a year's time in 3026 and 3027, the Fifteenth Marik Militia fought alongside the Gray Death Legion in several raids and missions into House Liao territory, the Legion and impicitly also the Fifteenth Marik Militia using Graham IV as a staging area to conduct their campaigns from.

During the attack on Sirius V in 3027, it was the Fifteenth Marik Militia who was supposed to relieve the Gray Death Legion following the surrender of Sirius V, but Lord Garth of Irian and his Irian Guard arrived two weeks earlier to conduct the Tiantan Massacre and frame the Gray Death Legion for the deed, with the Fifteenth still in transit towards the world.[6]

Andurien Secession[edit]

The Tenth Marik Militia and the Fifteenth landed on Xanthe III in 3037. Expecting to face the Third Defenders of Andurien, the loyalist forces were surprised to find the Fifth Defenders of Andurien on the world as well. The fighting didn't go well, with the Militia units under heavy fire. The Fifteenth actually shattered when the Fifth Defenders hit their rear flank.[7]

Operation GUERRERO[edit]

In 3054, elements of the Fifteenth took part in the defense of a Word of Blake HPG Station on Berenson against mercenaries supposedly hired by ComStar, an incident resulting in the destruction of the station. Later, it was revealed the entire event was orchestrated by the Word of Blake to create a backlash against ComStar. At this time, the unit's command lance consisted entirely of brand-new Word of Blake Grand Crusaders.[8]

Jihad[edit]

In 3067, the fourth battalion still consisted of primarily Word of Blake troops.[9]
