Planetary History

Exodus

By 2296 Sakhalin marked one edge of the area of space within which the interstellar trade company Skye Traders was the dominant commercial interest, an area which in 2299 would form the basis of the new interstellar nation founding by Ian McQuiston of Skye, the Federation of Skye.[1]

The Star League

Sakhalin was the host of an SLDF garrison during the final years of the Star League.[29]

The Succession Wars

Sakhalin was a battleground system fought over between the Lyran Commonwealth and the Draconis Combine during the Second War of Succession. In February 2860, Lyran forces successfully repelled a raid carried out by a large number of Phoenix Hawk LAMs, inflicting heavy losses, but lost their commander, Henry DeCalidore in the fighting. Later that year, a force of ten regiments unexpectedly captured Sakhalin, which effectively split the front into two separate theaters. Finally in 2863, two heavy LCAF regiments, the elite 3rd Donegal Guards and the famous veteran Stealths were able to retake it. However, the Stealths lost over half their MechWarriors, including heavy battalion commander and regimental second-in-command, the famous Angela Franks, widely known as "The Black Pearl".[30]
