Description[edit]
The Phantom was pushed into production by Khan Phelan Ward shortly before the Refusal War between Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon, designed around Khan Ward's extensive experience with Inner Sphere tactics. After the Wars of Reaving, the Phantom replaced the Fire Moth OmniMech for the remaining Home Clans because of its similar role and heavier profile. After the introduction of the Wulfen, production of the Phantom was put on the backburner until Clan Wolf sold the plans to the Clan Sea Fox ilKhanate to bolster the numbers of BattleMechs in their inventory. Clan Sea Fox retooled a line building Bloodhound for this job, and began providing the OmniMech to any interested party for a price, of course.
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
Intended to push a medium reconnaissance 'Mech to the most extreme limits, the Phantom is built on a lightweight Type-A endo steel chassis and is propelled to a top speed of 151.2 km/h by a Light Force 360 XL extralight engine. The Phantom also boasts strong protection for its size with six tons of Composite A-2 ferro-fibrous armor.
In its Primary configuration the Phantom is an electronics marvel. To root out hidden units, the Phantom carries an active probe which is able to find hidden enemy units at up to 180 meters. The Phantom prime is capable of spotting for friendly Arrow IV artillery with a TAG laser designator and, for protection from enemy electronic warfare systems, the 'Mech has an ECM suite. To engage its enemies at long range, the Phantom has an LRM-5 launcher backed up by an ER medium laser and an ER small laser for close combat.
Alternate Configurations[edit]
- Alternate Configuration A
- Capable of working as a long-range fire support 'Mech or very short-range brawler, the Phantom A is armed with a pair of LRM-5 launchers for long-range fire support capabilities. For close range combat, the 'Mech has five ER small lasers, one firing to the rear, and a single ER medium laser, making it a powerful medium 'Mech at any range.[1] BV (1.0) = 1,304,[3] BV (2.0) = 1,410[1][5]
- Alternate Configuration B
- A dedicated close combat machine, the B configuration carries two SRM-4 launchers as its primary short range weapons. These are supported by an ER medium laser and a rear-mounted ER small laser. Additionally, an active probe protects the 'Mech from ambush.[1] BV (1.0) = 966,[3] BV (2.0) = 1,096[1][6]
- Alternate Configuration C
- Another close-combat configuration, the Phantom C carries eight ER small lasers and a single ER medium laser, all of which are linked to an advanced targeting computer for increased accuracy. The 'Mech also has a flamer, which it can use for anti-infantry purposes.[1] BV (1.0) = 1,413,[3] BV (2.0) = 1,590[1][7]
- Alternate Configuration D
- The D configuration is something of a compromise between the B and C configurations. The 'Mech carries three ER medium lasers and an ER small laser for a powerful-short range punch. These are backed up by a highly accurate Streak SRM-4 launcher.[1] BV (1.0) = 1,443,[3] BV (2.0) = 1,581[1][8]
- Alternate Configuration F
- The F configuration carries an ER medium laser in each side torso, supported by a heavy medium laser in the right arm. Anti-infantry support comes from a heavy flamer in the left arm, while an ECM suite in the center torso jams enemy sensors. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 1375[11]
- Alternate Configuration G
- The G configuration is a medium range scout/scout hunter, mounting an ER Medium Laser in the right arm and a Protomech AC/4 in the left arm, with 1 ton of ammunition mounted in the same arm. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 975 [12]
- Alternate Configuration H
- A very powerful close combat configuration, the H carries six heavy small lasers and a medium pulse laser, which are all linked to a targeting computer for increased accuracy. The 'Mech also has a flamer for anti-infantry work.[1] BV (1.0) = 967,[3][13] BV (2.0) = 1,178[1][14]
- Alternate Configuration I
- Another scout hunter configuration, the I configuration links all its weapons to a Targeting Computer, with the ubiquitous ER Medium Laser mounted on the right arm while the left arm is equipped with an Improved Heavy Large Laser. To allow for the sharing of telemetry, a Light TAG is mounted on the left torso. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 1,713 [15]
- Alternate Configuration J
- A close range striker, the J configuration mounts a supercharger to increase its already blistering speed. Built for close range combat, the primary weapon of the J configuration is an Improved Heavy Medium Laser mounted on the right arm, while the left arm is loaded with a trio of ER Medium Laser. An ER Small Laser is setup in the left torso to complement the whole setup. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 1,902 [16]
- Alternate Configuration K
- A mobile sniper configuration, the K configuration mounts a single weapon, an ER Large Laser in the left torso. Coupled to it are the pinnacle of clan technology for fire control, a Watchdog CEWS and Targeting Computer. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 1,387 [17]
- Alternate Configuration L
- A scout/infantry hunter configuration, the L configuration carries a trio of AP Gauss Rifles in its left arm, fed by a single ton of ammunition. The right arm features a Plasma Cannon and a single ton of plasma ammunition. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 1,178 [18]
- Alternate Configuration R
- A mixed-technology striker configuration, the R configuration is equipped with a pair of Inner Sphere-specs Medium Lasers in the right arm, along with a pair of Improved Heavy Medium Lasers in each torso. The left arm mounts a Clan-specs SRM 6 launcher and one ton of ammunition. BV (1.0) = ??? BV (2.0) = 1,365 [19]
