Template:InfoBoxStateUnit The Sixth Jaguar Dragoons were a Cluster of Clan Smoke Jaguar's Alpha Galaxy. They were taken as isorla by Clan Wolf-in-Exile during Operation Bulldog and renamed the Sixth Wolf Guards.

History

The Sixth Jaguar Dragoons were nicknamed the "Wolf Slayers" because they were the unit whose successful Trial of Possession brought the Dire Wolf Assault OmniMech into the Smoke Jaguar touman. This unit is second only to the Silver Jaguars in the number of Dire Wolf Omnis in its ranks.[1]

Operation Revival

The Sixth Jaguar Dragoons took part in the initial invasion of the Inner Sphere, conquering Draconian planets of Tarnby, Yamarovka and achieved a stunning victory on Byesville.[2] when Binary of Elementals under the command of Star Captain Lincoln Osis captured the world without much of a fight. Lincoln Osis was later awarded the rank of Star Colonel and command of the Sixth Dragoons.

Rising to the rank of Khan, during the Battle of Tukayyid at the head of the Sixth Dragoons Osis led the Jaguar's Alpha Galaxy to assault the primary target city of Dinju Heights, defended by the Com Guards veteran ranked Fifth Army. The assault on Dinju Heights started well for the Jaguars, with the Sixth Dragoons wiping out the green 50th Division to secure Alpha Galaxy's drop site. As the Dragoons and Jaguar Grenadiers started their march for Dinju Heights, they didn't realize the modest resistance offered by the remains of Fiftieth was but a cover for heavier elements of 299th and 323rd Divisions hidden in the Dinju Pass.

When the Grenadiers reached the pass, Star Colonel Brandon Howell suspected a trap and ordered two Stars forward to flush out any hidden Com Guard units, while the rest of the Grenadiers were ordered to rush the pass at flank speed while hugging its walls. While almost completely obliterating the probe force, the 299th and 323rd Divisions could only engage the bulk of the Grenadiers briefly before they raced passed, inflicting heavy losses but unable to prevent a sizable portion of the Jaguar unit making it through to reach the outskirts of Dinju Heights. However when the Sixth Jaguar Dragoons attempted to make their own run, the Two-Hundred and Ninety-Ninth and Three-Hundred and Twenty-Third had emerged from hiding and were crowding the floor of the pass, creating a gauntlet of overwhelming firepower with Khan Osis seemingly killed as the Dragoons took heavy casualties.

With Khan Osis's apparent demise followed shortly after by the death of saKhan Sarah Weaver during Beta Galaxy's push to the secondary target city of Port Racice, when Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht reinforced the Fifth Army with divisions from the Com Guards Second Army, ilKhan Ulric Kerensky was forced to terminate the Jaguar campaign. While the demoralized Beta Galaxy dutifully obeyed, those in Alpha Galaxy were enraged by what they felt was a Wolf Clan snub to their sacrifices and vowed to fight to the death. With the Grenadiers unable to break through the 299th and 323rd's battle line to save them, the outnumbered Sixth Dragoons were effectively destroyed. Only eight warriors survived the encounter.[1] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Discovered alive during rescue operations after Tukayyid, Osis sought to rebuild his former unit and turned it into the Clan Smoke Jaguars' prestige-unit. The 168th Garrison Cluster was also assigned as an aid-unit for the Sixth Dragoons.

In 3060 the Sixth Jaguar Dragoons were preparing for a campaign against the Draconis Combine, awaiting that Khan Lincoln Osis would soon declare a new invasion of the Inner sphere.

Operation Bulldog

During Operation Bulldog, the Sixth faced the Exile Wolves on Labrea. At this time, the Sixth consisted of three Mech-Trinaries, their weight ranging from medium to assault. Their commander was Star Colonel Logan Moon, a pragmatic man who was not as blindly aggressive as his fellow Clan warriors. Khan Phelan Kell declared a Trial of Possession for the 6th Jaguar Dragoons: Phelan Kell (Executioner A) fought Star Colonel Logan Moon[7] (Dire Wolf A) for Alpha Trinary. Star Colonel Ranna Kerensky (Warhawk C) fought against the Star Captain of Beta Trinary (Turkina B). Ragnar (Ice Ferret D) fought against the Star Captain of Charlie Trinary (Shadow Cat A). The Exile Wolves won in all three cases.[8]

The 6th Jaguar Dragoons were taken isorla as a whole, but Phelan Kell declared them abtakha, before even leaving Labrea. The sixth Jaguar Dragoons were renamed to the 6th Wolf Guards and declared part of Clan Wolf-in-Exile's Alpha Galaxy. Their new coat-of-arms is a wolf with the head of a smoke jaguar.
