- Double Fortress of Stefan Amaris - This pair of Republican-built Fortresses was patterned after the construction methods used to build the Castles Brian of the Star League. Stefan Amaris ordered their construction prior to his Amaris Coup. They have survived centuries of the Succession Wars and later Clan Invasion.[1]
History
Early History
Apollo was the former capital world of the Rim Worlds Republic.
Clan Invasion of 3050
During the Clan Invasion of Inner Sphere, Apollo was targeted by Clan Jade Falcon with keen interest. This due to because of it being the former capital of the old Rim World Republic, its conquest would mark the beginning of rebuilding the Star League to the Falcons. The invasion began in May of 3050, when Turkina Keshik arrived with Gamma Galaxy in escort.
The planet was defended by the 2nd Regiment of the Grave Walkers and the Apollo Militia. Initial landings on the planet were hampered by the bad weather of the monsoon season. The Gravewalkers and Militia Troops put up a heavy resistence to the Falcon's invasion, but ultimately had to fall back to the Planet's ancient Fortifications. Several Stars of Elemental Battle Armor overran one of the Forts by using ancient plans found in their Star League era files of Apollo. The 2nd Grave Walkers resistance to the Falcon's efforts was incredibly frustrating. In response, Khans Timur Maltus & Elias Crichell ordered the 305th Assault Cluster to re-configure their OmniMechs to fire Arrow IV Homing Missiles into the remaining fortification. Using the Homing-Rounds kept the Falcon's bombardment from destroying villages that were next to the Walker's Position. The bombardment finally opened up a number of spots in the Fort's defenses to allow Falcon 'Mechs and Elementals entry. Shortly after the Grave Walkers surrendered, ending the battle for Apollo.[2]
Clan Ice Hellion Invasion
In July 3071, Clan Ice Hellion invaded Clan Jade Falcon's Occupational Zone. Apollo was invaded by elements of the Hellion's Beta Galaxy in September. In November, the Ice Hellion forces are forced to withdraw from Apollo, as elements of Clan Hell's Horses forces take the planet for their Clan. Hellion's WarShip CIH Cold Hunter is damaged in course of the battle in orbit with Jade Falcon WarShips CJF Blue Talon & Falcon's Nest.[3]
