History

Age of War

The unit was raised from St. Ives Militia forces and volunteer reservists. They were known for their lack of discipline, hence their unit's nickname. Under orders of then Chancellor Kurnath Liao, the unit first saw action against Free Worlds League's Andurien Duchy space in 2369. The unit suffered with numerous defeats on Berenson in 2371 and later on Lopez in 2373. The unit was recalled to Sian, where they were refitted and extensive training.[1]

In 2425, officer from the 2nd Battalion was hired and successfully killed then Chancellor Arden Baxter.[2] Fortunately, the unit was not completely ostracized for the incident, but was sent to House Liao southern borders to fight casual pirate raids, until 2760.[1]

Star League Era & the Succession Wars

The unit was recalled from Periphery border by Chancellor Barbara Liao, where she re-united the unit with rest of the Northwind Highlanders. She employed unit with rest of its kin in assault against Davion world of Demeter in 2761. Its actions on Demeter, cause it to redeem is prestige as it conduct daring actions against world's militia's units.[1]

In 2782 the unit conducted raid against Aerospace facility on the Davion world of Brighton.[1]

While on Lee in 2792 the unit's 2nd & 3rd Battalion's lost significant of Light BattleMechs with Davion mercenary unit, Cochraine's Greencoats. So raddled from the encounter, the Bad Boys lost their confidence their Light class of 'Mech that rapidly traded all their remaining lights designs with other regiments for heavier 'Mech designs.[1]

Their sister unit McCormack's Fusiliers and Highlanders themselves teamed up and successfully defended the world of Almach from elements of the Deneh Light Cavalry in 2834. The Bad Boy's held their grounds, while losing several lances holding against the Davion force.[1]

In the unit's strong sense of individualism came ahead, causing the unit to be disbanded temporary after refusing to conduct a raid on against Marik world of Oriente in 2899. The unit was reformed in 2902 when Marik incursions into the Confederation occurred. The newly reformed unit, no longer had its previous radical individualism marring it from taking orders.[1]

The Highlanders had three separated engagements with Marik employed mercenary unit known as the Vintain's Vigilantes in 2920. The encounters fought for right over previously undiscovered DropShips on the world of Buenos Aires. The two forces fought in northern continent and evenly matched. However, with efforts of Marion's third Battalion, the Highlanders managed to trap the Vigilantes. Impressed by the Vigilantes' performance, the Bad Boys offered chance the survivors to join the them. The survivors declined, the Bad Boy annihilated Vigilantes down to last man.[1]

The unit since 2950 has been stationed along the Tikonov Commonality's Davion borders, where it has been position intercept incoming raids. It has also still proving it still has individuality in its character, conducted its own raids behind Davion lines. The unit attracts many volunteers whom appreciate the unit's individualism.[1]

In 3006 the Highlanders were assigned to Halloran V. From there they, along with the Blackwind Lancers raided the Federated Suns worlds of Demeter, Almach, and Chesterton. Wolf's Dragoons sent their Beta, Gamma, and Delta Regiments to the world, supported by Zeta Battalion.[3] After the Liao raiders returned, the Dragoons hit them. Delta Regiment pinned the Lancers in place, while the other Dragoon units faced the Highlanders. The Highlanders were able to hold their position against determined attacks by Beta and Gamma, and even repelled several assaults by Zeta. They were in position to hold the Dragoons at bay indefinitely, but the Dragoons tricked the Lancers into retreating. The Lancers appeared in the Highlanders' rear area, causing confusion and eventually the Highlanders collapsed. The Dragoons conquered Halloran V.[4]
