The Fairfax system is located near the Chaumont and Melcher systems. It lies Spinward from Terra.[3][2]

The Fairfax system was colonized during the First Exodus from Terra[4] and by the end of the Age of War had been incorporated into the Federated Suns.[5][6] For much of its history as a part of the Federated Suns, Fairfax was the administrative capital of the Fairfax Combat Region and the Fairfax Operational Area within the Draconis March.[7]

Planetary History[edit]
First Succession War[edit]
Having been occupied by the Draconis Combine at some point in 2797[15] or 2798.[16] Fairfax was recaptured from the Combine in the period between March and September of 2799, during the First Succession War.[51][52][17]
Jihad[edit]
In 3071 a Clan Nova Cat group consisting of two Tramp-class and a single Invader-class JumpShips, both bearing a full complement of DropShips entered the system and left after recharging, destination unknown.[53]
Dark Age[edit]
Sometime between 3135 and 3145 the Draconis Combine wrested control of Fairfax from the Federated Suns with overwhelming force. Present at the time was Jeremy Dodds, member of a lance of Prey Seekers, who conducted deep strike raids behind Combine lines. They wreaked so much havoc with supply and transportation lines that an entire company of BattleMechs was tasked with hunting them down. Though eventually engaged and destroyed, their strike was credited with delaying the conquest of the world by at least three weeks.[54]
After gaining control of the world, the Combine occasionally stored munitions and spare parts in large warehouses, but little else of value remained on the world. The Fairfax Planetary Militia was accordingly poorly trained and supplied, though it did contain a lance of four Shillelagh tanks. Around 3150 a pirate band raided the world, and a pair of 'Mechs managed to evade the main militia force and tried to loot the warehouses. All four Shillelaghs were on duty, and the pirates vanished under a cloud of missiles.[55]
