Mechdur, along with Coromodir VI, Guldra, and Itrom, was originally settled by the Free Worlds League as part of a privately funded expedition that followed in the wake of the settlement of Taurus.[32] However, significant growth did not come until after the Reunification War, when Mechdur was located in the Sian Commonality of the Capellan Confederation, close to the border with the Taurian Concordat and near the worlds of Mangzhangdian and Umgard.[3] After the Reunification War the Capellan confederation built several industrial complexes there.[33] The colony was judged a failure due to an inefficient bureaucracy, and the Capellans withdrew, leaving the local hereditary oligarchy in control.[1] The system vanished from the maps used by the Inner Sphere during the 1st Succession War.[6][10]
