Description
Handbook: Major Periphery States is the fourth in the series of handbooks detailing the nations of the Inner Sphere. It is the definitive sourcebook for the key states in the periphery and contains detailed history sections for each faction up to 3067. The sourcebook includes brief histories of some of the more important planets, information of how the governments work, and an analysis of the different cultures and economies, including a detailed list of the most important companies.
The sourcebook glosses over the various military forces and secret services, since those organizations were detailed at length in Field Manual: Periphery and A Guide to Covert Ops, respectively.
The product ends with additional rules and units to be incorporated into BattleTech and A Time of War: The BattleTech RPG games.
From the Back Cover
“ | THE FRONTIERS OF KNOWN SPACE
The peoples of the Inner Sphere often consider themselves the epitome of technology and culture and relegate the denizens of the frontiers of known space to second-class citizenry, or worse. And yet it took the combined armies of the Inner Sphere more than twenty years to subjugate them during the forming of the first Star League half millennia ago. Magistracy of Canopus, Taurian Concordat, Marian Hegemony, Outworlds Alliance and Circinus Federation. Each is a unique star-spanning empire whose hardy people have carved out their freedom with bare hands: an identity they will not give up without a fight. Even the Great Houses have begun to learn that underestimating these Periphery States is dangerous indeed. Handbook: Major Periphery States collates the essential history, politics and culture of the Major Periphery States into a single volume. More than a mere sourcebook, Handbook: Major Periphery States provides rules for both BattleTech and A Time of War: The BattleTech RPG game play, including new support vehicles, creatures and more! |

Notes
- Historical maps on pp. 18 & 25 include the world Jardine obscured by a text box but present in the OCR layer. This was explained in universe as the result of a "coded virus traced to Dobless Information Services in the Lyran Alliance [which] popped Jardine’s historical location back onto some maps produced in the late 3060s."[1]
