Stas was a Clan Wolf MechWarrior and technician, and leader of the Retribution Wraiths.

History[edit]

Stas was a trueborn from Clan Wolf of Nicholas Kerensky's Bloodline.

He was a ristar with a promising future, until, about 3045, prior to Operation REVIVAL, when he was taken as a bondsman by Clan Smoke Jaguar.[1]

The Jaguars never let him regain his warrior status, keeping him as a technician. After the Jaguars' annihilation, he joined the Free Guilds. During the first stages of the Wars of Reaving, he lost most of his guild, friends and his mate for twenty-five years, Bela in an Orbital Bombardment. He began working with other Free Guilds while he was not drunk, feeling a deep hate towards the Grand Council and dreaming of a glorious death and revenge against them. His opportunity arrived on 9 April 3075, when an Elemental named Yama joined him in a bar and offered him revenge. He accepted.

After arriving at Yama's base with three old friends, Cuinn, Mateo and Grazia, he learned that "Yama" was, in fact, Garmen Kerensky, a Clan Wolf operative with a secret mission: to board the McKenna's Pride WarShip and steal Aleksandr Kerensky's body as part of Operation DAMOCLES II. He needed a suicide team, and Stas recruited a multi-Clan team: a Trinary later known as Retribution Wraiths. Stas and his friends recruited twenty more candidates from several Clans. For months, the Wraith repaired their 'Mechs and trained intensively for their first and last combat mission. Only Stas and their three Wolf friends knew the real objective, but don't shared that with the rest. These, obsessed with revenge against the Great Council and searching a Warrior's death, didn't care.

Finally, on 5 April 3076, the Wraith attacked. After walking to the outskirts of Katyusha City, traveled to the center of it walking under Andery River. They emerged in the center of the city, undetected. The Wraith's operation, codenamed PILUM, was part of Garmen's SPATHA II. Their objectives were to attack and destroy the comms systems of the Space Control Center, HPG station, and Ebon Keshik and Katyusha Keshik's headquarters, destroy all the defending units possible and sow all the confusion they could until the death, to allow Garmen to launch their mission.

They were assisted by Dark Caste observers, who blew the three major bridges across the river, codenamed Operation ARCHER.[2]

The Wraiths attacked and easily destroyed a Star of 'Mechs of the Katyusha Keshik, and later, the other two stars of its Trinary. Stas destroyed a Hellfire and a Conjurer. Later, the Wraiths destroyed all the comms systems.

The Wraiths reunited for a last stand near the Ebon Keshik headquarters. They managed to destroy about another Trinary of 'Mechs and Elementals. Stas downed a Timber Wolf, but the Wraiths already had been reduced to only seven heavily damaged 'Mechs, included his.

Death[edit]

IlKhan Hannibal Banacek led a massive assault by the Star Adders and Katyusha Keshik. He contacted Stas and ordered him to surrender; Stas simply laughed off his offer, and told him his opinion of the Great Council. The Adders attacked again, and the last Wraiths fought as their namesakes, falling one after another. Stas was the last survivor, and managed to down a Night Gyr, but after that, all the Adders turned their weapons against him and killed him.[3]

Physical description[edit]

In 3075, Stas was about sixty years old and described as having steel gray hair. It was said he looked a lot like Aleksandr Kerensky, his ancestor.

Legacy[edit]

Ironically, Stas' sacrifice helped his former Clan steal the last Kerensky legacy in Clan Space, but also left one behind: his body. It was recovered by Clan Cloud Cobra personnel, and the ilKhan decided to use his great resemblance to Aleksandr Kerensky to transform his corpse: after altering his physical appearance, the ilKhan ordered a "search expedition" to go into space and "recover" his body, presenting it as if it was Aleksandr's body, to keep the symbol the Great Council needed to unite the Clans. Stas was later buried in a tomb adjacent to the Hall of Khans, under a multi-ton slab of granite, but visible along the sides.[4]

BattleMechs[edit]

Stas' only known 'Mech was a Highlander IIC.
