The Honor Guard's elite armor regiments were finally hunted down over the course of five days of attrition fighting.[35]

First Combine-Dominion War[edit]

During the First Combine-Dominion War (October 3062-December 3063), the Ghost Bears Fifth Bear Regulars attacked the Richmond system which left their base world of Constance mostly unguarded. Elements of the Second Sword of Light then launched an attack that seized Constance for the Combine. This forced the Fifth Bear Regulars to abandon their gains in Richmond to reclaim Constance for the Ghost Bear Dominion. While the Second Sword of Light's attack achieved their objective of pulling forces away from the front, the Second suffered heavy losses in that resulting fighting.[36][37][38]

The Jihad[edit]

In March 3076, Constance was the second of four Ghost Bear Dominion worlds to be raided by Clan Ice Hellion stragglers after the failed Ice Hellion invasion of the Clan Jade Falcon Occupation Zone several years before.[23][24]

Dark Age[edit]

Constance was the site of the Vacaville Slaughter in November 3120 when a group of rebels seized the capital and a Trinary from the Fifty-sixth PGC was dispatched to crush the revolt. This was accomplished when a Vulture Nova, pursuing the rebels into the Vacaville subdivision, finally resorted to bombarding the entire town. The majority of the civilian population was killed; only afterwards were the rebels found to have committed mass suicide beforehand.[39]
