The Dalkeith system is home to at least one inhabited world, Dalkeith V, and as at 3145 is located in the region of the Rasalhague Dominion administered from Skandia.[2][3]

System History

The Dalkeith system was settled prior to the Age of War and was a part of the Tamar Pact prior to the formation of the Lyran Commonwealth, becoming a Lyran world once the Commonwealth was established.[4]

Dalkeith is the fifth planet in the Dalkeith system and has four moons, Dal-Mar, Dal-Ra, Dal-Rue, and Dal-Tal.[1]

Planetary History

During the Star League Dalkeith V - more commonly known simply as Dalkeith - was a beautiful world with a population of more than two billion. During the First Succession War the Draconis Combine launched more than a dozen 100 megaton nuclear weapons against the defending Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces troops. These weapons, combined with chemical weapons, were sufficient to destroy the Lyran defenders, a Castle Brian complex, and nearly the entire population. In 3075 the planet's population barely reached three hundred million. The effects of the nuclear strike were still felt, with an atmosphere high in carbon dioxide and micro dust particulates. The inhabitants needed to wear filtration devices to breath this atmosphere, but as a small compensation they had a higher resistance to certain types of radiation.[1]

Dalkeith remained inhabited because of the large number of radioactive and heavy metals located under the Alveria mountain range, vital raw materials for the LCAF's war machine.[1]
