Plot Summary
Star Captain Peter Cobb faces a Trial, defeating his opponent. The officer, a young and very promising ristar into his clan, had been writing essays criticizing both Horses' Khans and that had made him a target of both leaders' followers. Their Clan was de facto divided into two factions, and it was tearing itself apart. Peter was under the tutelage of the Horses' Loremaster, Sachiko Ravenwater, both attempting to lead their Clan into a better future. As part of that, he obtained two Lyran Commonwealth bondsmen, to train a small unit into special ops tactics. After Cobb participated into a Bloodnamed warriors meeting, he has to face another Trial, which he barely survived. After their Clan raced to Terra, attempting to fight for the IlKhan title, the Hell's Horses managed to antagonize the winners, Clan Wolf. The Horses later led the invasion of former Jade falcon's occupation Zone, with a total defeat at Sudeten. After the defeat, the Horses Khans turned at each other, with Fulk Lassenerra becoming winner. Facing another Trial, once again Cobb becomes winner, which made him a Star Colonel, giving him a greater influence within his now unified Clan.
