Spectral classM0V[1][2]
Recharge time201 hours[1][2]
Recharge station(s)Zenith, Nadir[1][2]

The Csesztreg system was home to at least one habitable world, Csesztreg III, and as of 3151 was the capital of the Clan Hell's Horses Occupation Zone.[3]

The name is pronounced as follows: "cs" is pronounced as "ch", and "sz" is pronounced as an "s". The pronunciation of the name is therefore akin to "chestreg".[citation needed]

System Description[edit]

The Csesztreg system is located near the Chateau and Verthandi systems[4][5] and consists of a class M0V primary orbited by at least three worlds. During the thirty-first century recharge stations were in place at both the nadir and zenith jump points.[1][2]

System History[edit]

The Csesztreg system was settled at some point during the Star League era after the end of the Reunification War.[6][7]

Csesztreg III - more commonly known simply as Csesztreg - is the third planet in the system and has two moons named Bajnok and Egylet. During the thirty-first century Csesztreg became the administrative capital of the Clan Hell's Horses Occupation Zone and home to a number of Hell's Horses industrial complexes, including one orbital complex.[1][2]

Planetary History[edit]

Csesztreg was settled for its vast expanses of heavy metals. These metals were a key component of Lyran industry, but it wasn't until the Jamerson-Ulikov water purification technique was perfected that this world could be safely inhabited. The metals that were so prized by industry wreaked havoc on the human body, but the purification technique removed them and allowed humans to safely drink the water on the world.[1]

The metals that were exported were so valuable that Csesztreg reached economic independence within three decades of the initial colonists arriving. The prominence of their heavy metal exports and lack of heavy industry to generate weapons of war allowed Csesztreg to prosper, even during the chaotic era of the Succession Wars. The lack of heavy industry didn't lure raiding parties, and the heavy metals were vital to Lyran weapon manufacturers. This meant that many kroner flowed into the coffers of Csesztreg. Unfortunately the water purification plants were failing at this time, and after the Draconis Combine took the world late in the Third Succession War, this process accelerated. Many dissidents and political prisoners from Rasalhague were imprisoned on the world, sentenced to work in the mines. Most of these dissidents died, either in mining accidents or from heavy metal poisoning.[1]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

In mid-3029, following several months of consolidation in the aftermath of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the Lyran Commonwealth went on the offensive again in the Trellshire and Tamar theaters of operation. While a large part of the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces' attention went into trying to win ongoing conflicts on a handful of worlds, seven new planetary assaults were launched.[46] Csesztreg, already hit during the exploitation phase of GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG by the Thirtieth Lyran Guards,[47] was targeted again. Defended only by militia units, Csesztreg one of the seven worlds targeted and was swiftly conquered.[46]

The perception that the LCAF High Command hadn't prioritized Csesztreg for liberation during the Fourth Succession War, instead choosing to liberate other Combine-held worlds, angered the many citizens of Lyran descent inhabiting the world, and when the Free Rasalhague Republic formed, Csesztreg's rulers petitioned to enter that realm. They were accepted, and quickly became an important part of the Republic economy. At this same time, information from the Helm Memory Core allowed engineers to recreate and repair the water-purification plants on the world.[1]

Clan Invasion[edit]

During the Clan Invasion Csesztreg was invaded by Clan Wolf in their second wave of attacks. The Trinaries Command and Elemental of the 352nd Assault Cluster faced off against the First and Second Csesztreg Militia Mechanized Infantry Regiments at the Annick Woods, however the defenders were so devastated by that battle that the planetary government quickly capitulated to prevent any further bloodshed.[48] The implementation of a caste system created a great deal of resentment among the population, as they were certain that this would lead to Combine-style labor camps and prison facilities. Clan Wolf spent much of the next quarter century making efforts to implement their caste system without causing outright war with the citizens.[1]

Jihad[edit]

Clan Hell's Horses took Csesztreg from the Wolves in 3074. They then established their Clan's headquarters on the world, along with manufacturing lines, training camps, sibkos, and the primary Hell's Horses genetic repository. The combination of prefabricated production units with Csesztreg's vast natural resources have allowed the planet to rapidly produce ammunition, battle armor, and ProtoMech units. The planet's BattleMech assembly lines opened in 3077.[2] To prevent overcrowding, the Hell's Horses established their touman headquarters and genetic repository away from the capital city of Budapest. Instead their efforts were located around Szeged, on a different continent.[1]
