History[edit]
Early Years[edit]
Daniel Allard attended New Avalon Military Academy where he became friends with Jacques de Gambier, whose grandfather had served in the same 'Mech unit as his own.[5]
Kell Hounds[edit]
Allard was assigned to the Kell Hounds by Hanse Davion[6] for his six year assignment in 3015.[7] During the Hounds' final action on Mallory's World in 3016, then-Lieutenant Daniel Allard commanded the Scout/Recon Lance of First Company, First Battalion ("Relentless Wolves").[8] After the battle, he found himself holding the unit together after Morgan Kell reduced the Hounds to a battalion-sized unit.[9]
Clan Invasion[edit]
During the Battle of Luthien during Operation REVIVAL, Allard and his signature Wolfhound were present during the fighting against Clan Smoke Jaguar and Clan Nova Cat.[10]
On 3055, Daniel, then Lieutenant Colonel, was part of the Red Corsair affair. When the Hounds were traveling to Elissa, on Alyina, the local commander, Star Colonel Taman Malthus, was unwilling to allow them pass, despite the orders of Wolf Clan Khan Phelan Ward, but he agreed out of respect to Daniel Allard, for being the uncle of Kai Allard-Liao, whom Malthus considered a comrade.[11]
Death[edit]
Allard continued to pilot his 'Mech despite rising to command of the Kell Hounds, until his death on Graceland in 3069 during combat against Clan Jade Falcon, on 12 June 3069, when the Falcons abandoned zellbringen. His killer, ironically, was his nephew's friend, Taman Malthus. Daniel's death was deeply felt by the Hounds. Despite Allard being replaced at command by Akira Brahe, the troops were so demoralized by their loss than had to evacuate Graceland. On Arc-Royal, Duke Morgan Kell declared a week of mourning, and Margrave Adam Steiner postumously awarded Allard with the Alliance Medal of Honor in a heartfelt ceremony on Atocongo.[2][12][13][14]
BattleMechs[edit]
Originally piloting a Valkyrie, Daniel Allard sacrificed it to temporarily stop Yorinaga Kurita on Styx.[15] After its destruction, Allard received a prototype Wolfhound,[16] which became his signature 'Mech and he piloted it until his death. At some point during the Clan Invasion, his 'Mech was fully enhanced with Clan technology to include an ER PPC.[17][2][18]
