Planetary Info

Gladius' economy is based largely on tourism. Though surrounded by gorgeous green seas, the soil of the mostly jungle world cannot support a large agricultural base. The nutrients in the soil are rapidly depleted, leaving the soil unable to support large amounts of crops. In addition, these changes affected the local lifeforms, which provided another source of food for the colonists. With these environmental restrictions present, the planet naturally turned itself into a vacation paradise.

Most of Gladius' residents are either employed by the hospitality trades or are retirees from other worlds. The retirement communities exploded onto the world in the late 2800's when people, sick of the devastation of the Succession Wars, moved to the small, out of the way tropical paradise.[1]

The main continent, Garamond, is surrounded by these small communities. It also houses Hyacles, the planet's capital city and largest spaceport.[1]
